What is needed to start a online company?

Hello fellow Fastlaners,

I am a developer and besides web hosting(Im using Linode) and code and design. What is needed to get the business started.

Oh yeah, and besides the business entity such as a LLC or Corp. Because I know I need those things to get up and running. Im making sure they dont violate the NESCT commandments as well.

Right now you are looking for someone to hand you the masterplan. The Guide for success.

That's not going to happen.

There is a search function on this forum. There is Google for the stuff you don't understand. Use both.

Most of your questions could be answered by a quick search. The rest can wait until you're up and running with the business.

I could link you the specific threads, but not long ago I was at your exact same spot. And it did not help me. Because the problems you're going to face will be getting bigger and bigger - one day noone can hand you the solution. And then you don't know how to find it.
Learn to find solutions.
To your "easy" questions, so you are 'prepared' for later.

I'm not much further in business or live, but this helped me a lot - I hope it helps you as well.

I got my first client not too long ago (10 days to be specific) and I'm still struggling a lot.
But I hope this can save you some of the struggle.

I just wanted to see it to be honest........The process is definitely hard. I feel like finding a need is the hardest of the CENTS because naturally everything else is solved or can be solved with a online company.

Find the need first, build a solution for it. Then build the business around that.

Anyone can start an online business with wordpress and legalzoom.

In the Physical Therapy Field:
Foot Orthotics: People hate to wear foot drop orthotics because they are made of plastic and are ugly. Business idea? Yup. Make a foot orthotic that is aesthetically pleasing and comfortable.

How did I find this out?

My patient told me she hates wearing her's and is the reason why she doesn't wear it... Even though it helps her walk! People won't even wear this plastic thing even if it will help them walk.... NEED NEED NEED!

Look around you. People will tell you where the problems are, it will just be presented differently.


On the point of knowing where to go, I suggest reading a lot. You seem to be lost and you came to the right place. Start looking around the forum and just start learning. There is an incredible wealth of knowledge. Do your research before you get going.

Don't read every post before you get started, but find your direction and then get going!

Thanks man.....And I am kind of lost. But im hell bent on becoming a fastlane entrepreneur. This fastlane book has taught me so much. I cant thank @MJ DeMarco enought for making this book. I will buy unscripted on Amazon as well when it releases. Back to the matters at hand...yes Im in the process right now currently to do some customer development and see What is most needed in several industries that Im going test out by doing some due dillgence and making calls. Hopefully Ill get some answers soon. I do know that you are supoise to let the market dictate where you take your business...and so I will....

More than likely a SAAS although I thought about web hosting as well.....but a SAAS business I think is the strongest business model to follow. I have been researching SAAS companies here in Chicago the past few days, to generate some ideas and see what they are doing.

sorry....just seen this reply. I actually have been emailing the CEOs of transportation companies. I have some email plugins to automate them around the time of 430am-7am. But yet I haven't gotten a callback. I want to solve some problems with the transportation industry. the initial goal was to reach out to the CEOs and find some common problems among them. But I still haven't gotten no a response. I think they either have deleted my messages without reading them or haven't read any of them. I have a tracker to see if they have opened them....

Other that I have been reading forums to see common problems that people are having. I want to have B2B process first since I could ask for the most money from them first. Then focus on the consumers. Or should I focus on the B2C first? again....this is a SaaS company(well soon to be lol) so im looking for ways I can solve problems with a software service based solution.

You might want to try lower on the corporate ladder and find the people at lower levels of the companies that would be actually having the problems you plan on solving.

No, I have never worked in the transportation industry before, but I follow it very closely. As I see from the B2C side of things there could be some things to improve customer service. But I will try your idea. I thought you always are suppose to go after the head of the snake.
