Hey, maybe it sounds crazy on your side of the atlantic sea, but when your work for a national company in wich you are sure to have your place tomorrow... quicksands...

People who sob their eyes out because their favorite sports team lost the championship.

Like seriously?

I like sports just like everyone else, however, I can't imagine how EMPTY and MEANINGLESS my life would need to be for me to CRY over a team who I have no connections to, other than homesteading in a particular geographic region.

PERSPECTIVE: When your team wins, what do you get? I mean REALLY get? Money? Vacation? Your kid's college education paid for? In the end, you get NOTHING other than some fake sense of achievement or camaraderie. What a scam. And millions of people have wrapped their identity onto it.

"I cant wait for the weekend" always makes me laugh.

Or

You live at home and you work full time but never have any money left after partying all weekend.

Or

(Pairs well with above)
Paid on Friday broke on Monday

Oh lord, sounds too familiar from people I know xD

Yeah no kidding...
I have a friend that I've known since high school that gets paid well for someone with a high school diploma and no special trade. He lives with another friend of ours who happens to live with his mom (thats another story). Roughly only 20% of his entire income is spent on monthly bills. Yet, he cant even afford to spend $500 on repairs for his vehicle thats been sitting in the corner of my property for 7 months. It just blows my mind lol.

I've always been mystified by this. I think being emotionally involved with sports teams is as bad as being addicted to gambling. The only difference is that most of the currency spent is time and willpower instead of cash.

So much this! Never understood the attitude of my peers and co-workers who chime off stats, run fantasy leagues, gamble on proline with the minuscule hope of making it big! There is nothing achieved except for a short lived sense of temporary (false) achievement as a result of living vicariously through these teams.

I just ignore most of it and continue reading things I can use tangibly.

What if I'm doing overtime to bankroll my business in its start up phase? (Seriously)

I know that the overtime will boost my pay check and therefore the money that I can devote to the business, but at the same time reduces the time I can spend on it.

I know this isn't what you meant with your post, but it's an actual mental struggle for me...

Other's might disagree, but I don't see a problem with this. Just so long as you understand that it's easy to lose momentum and get stuck there. Then one day you wake up and you're 40 years old and still working overtime and are one missed overtime paycheck or one negative financial event away from disaster.

But as long as your football team is winning, you're still a winner too! /s

Back in my IT days I couldn't be bothered getting Oracle Certifications.

A colleague was completely incredulous.

"How do you expect to get promoted if you don't do courses?!?!"

"Err... I've no interest in getting promoted."

"But Andy, you'll never make it in life if you don't get certifications."

Sigh...

Just discussed with my boss the idea to create a video training course for the professional software we use at work.
The software manufacturer charges 1000+$ for virtual training.
I've googled and googled and haven't found any courses for the software.
I think we can beat them on that price :) lol
Turning the slowlane into a fastlane!
The industry i'm in is relatively uncommon, i never heard of the job until i started, but it's exploding now.

My boss is an expert with the software, and im pretty good with video editing after teaching myself for my youtube videos.

I'm like "you can use the videos for internal department training, AND WE CAN SELL THIS SHIT TOO BROOO!!!"

The need to keep up with the Joneses . All money is good money as long as you can spend it on a shopping spree, the latest car, vacation and impressing others.

Those are the same people that max their credit and go through their phone contacts asking for $5 to pay their phone bill.
