If children grew up according to early indications, we should have nothing but geniuses. ~Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Tell a child about something that's difficult to achieve and he or she will tell you why it is possible to do it. This kid will eventually find a way to achieve whatever that thing is.

Tell an adult about the same thing and the adult will tell you why it is impossible to do. His or her journey ends here. It stops before it's even begun.

There's a saying that goes something like "they said it's impossible to do. Then came one who didn't know that, and did it." It's pretty much the same thing for children. Nobody told them that it's impossible to walk, to ride a bike, to climb that tree, so they go out and find a way to do it. They don't give a shit about the hundreds of times they fell on their faces, they don't let the memories of their failures get in the way of their aspirations. They don't think about lying on the ground crying, after the 10th time falling down, while they try it for the 11th time. They don't know that it's not possible, so they will find a way to do it.

Then comes the time when a child enters school.

Time to learn what's impossible in life. Time to learn what you can't do. Time to grow up.

In the words of a german musician: the only thing you learn in school is to stop dreaming.

Kids enter school as creative, happy little minds. By the time they leave school they grew a huge amount of wool over the time, turning them into sheep. They leave school with their new-grown wool just right in time to enter the job factory, where their wool gets shorn every day in exchange for a new jacket every month.

But what if you didn't stop dreaming in school? Or learned to do it again afterwards?

What if you run around in this black and white world, painting it with your own colors? While everybody tells you to grow up. To grow up and throw away the colorful pencils and finally buy into the life long subscription of black and white ones.

Don't let them take away your colorful pencils.

Don't let them drag you away from your colorful world, right into their black and white one.

In their black and white world, they like to tell themselves that they are grown up. They like to tell you that you're an unrealistic child, one that needs to finally grow up.

Please never grow up.

A happy life is painted in colors. Colors that only children and child-like adults really possess.

As a child your colorful world is full of possibilities, ready to take on as soon as you are old enough to do it. While in school and early into jobs, the colors of most people's worlds slowly get extracted, turning it into a black and white world of impossibilities, that are not worth taking on even if they are old enough now.

Be that child-like guy or gal, who is old enough now to take the possibilities and turn them into reality, in a world still painted in color.

That's the truth.

If any of you have children, teach them from a very young age that they can do anything and live the good life that most young kids only look up to because they are taught that school is the only way to have a successful life.

I almost want to tell them not to pay attention in school and just go to it to experience the social aspect but that wouldn't be socially acceptable.

Or home school them and teach them about the same things you are trying to teach yourself. They will master it in weeks.

I wish I had somebody to motivate me to strive for more, and I do not mean becoming an engineering working for a corporate company.

Great post Supa and awesome quote. Lots of truth to it for the education system in many countries!

Thank you :tiphat:

Yep the school systems are definitely part of the problem, but I think that's just part of the problem. It's more due to all the conditioning that kids go through while growing from children to teenagers and then to adults. A mix of media, parents/family/friends, school, movies, tv shows, etc.

It's like getting trapped in a life that's already painted for you by others, and as soon as you realize this it seems too late or too difficult for most people, to escape that trap.

Agreed. I can already see parenting to be the biggest challenge in my life (hopefully a few years off yet). You know those parents that say "don't do that", the kid asks why and they reply with "because I said so". I get it, it's what you do when you're tired, but it's not teaching them anything. I actually think that's where a lot of my fastlane drive comes from - to have enough free time to be able to stop what you are doing and have fun with your kid or explain things properly rather than trying to get them to stay quiet and sit still in front of the TV.

True, I think it's all about the parents' mindset. It will be put on their kids, if consciously or subconsciously.

Someone whose horizon ends on 5pm after a work day at the job will give his kid the same aspirations and beliefs. I mean most of us probably don't have entrepreneurial parents, so we had to learn the entrepreneurial mindsets on our own after reading TMF , posts on here or in other ways.

But there are a lot of people (the 99%) who didn't learn that.

I believe that raising your children with those mindsets will put them into a great position early in life.

Or do you think if MJ would become a father, his kids would like to work in a cubicle their whole life? :)

Little boy I miss you, with your sudden smile and your ignorance of pain. You walked through life and devoured it with nothing but misty goals to keep you company. You wandered through quiet woods with friends and you where startled by a shuffling porcupine. Your heart beat mightily when you chased frogs and caught one to big for a single hand. There was no time for meaning.

A marshmallow gave it on a sharpened stick. A jack knife in your pocket gave you comfort when your friends were gone. A flower hidden in the woods, behind an aging shriveled log. A dog who licked at your fingers and chewed at your jeans. A game of football that you didn’t expect, a glass of cider, a crickets cry.

When did you lose your eyes and ears? When did taste buds cease to tremble? Whence the sullenness, this mounting fear, this quarrel with life, demanding meaning?

That mounting fear is leisure’s bonus and it’s the pain that forbids you to be a boy.

I have enjoyed reading the most poetic thread I have encountered on the forum.

That pleasure is enhanced by knowing that it is true. When my children were little, I took them wandering through the forest on our small acreage. The big trees were impressive, but the tiny flora was beautiful.

Showing them the intricate detail and beauty of miniature plants and explaining how carnivorous plants worked, undoubtedly inspired in them a desire to inquire and to search.

I am pleased to say that they have all avoided the script. They think for themselves, knowing that there are still wonders to be found in this world, and sometimes they generate one of those wonders in their own minds.

Your kids are happy to have a dad who not only allowed them to keep their colorful pencils, but who sat with them and sharpened their pencils and showed interest in their drawings :)

@Supa i love this post thanks for sharing it

By the time im 25 years old and have no childs but for sure a thougth that rounded my mind is the one if in the future i would leave part of my children education on the hands of this brain washed system

Early this year i realized even more how this malefic energy is absorving most of people souls until the last drop of life they got

Sorry for sharing this dark perspective in such a beautifull post, but life is about balance and the best way not to become part of is reminding and staying just the way you purely are
