And Cherish precious moments with my family. Being an employee has never brought me close to these results. 1. Forget about earning money. They are just (and nothing more!) than value adres of your product sold to others. So, think about delivering the best product you can. Just focus on what you are doing. MONEY ARE JUST ADDED VALUE OF PRODUCTS!

PS earning money means that you should forget about thinking "when i will make one milion", but you should never stop thinking how to make your company more profitable. And, there is a very big border between "earning a milion" and "company being profitable". The first is your ego, the second is how good you are at doing what you are doing.

2. Always write on paper your goals and actions plans and do it with a time schedule. Those never written are very rarely executed, they are never going out of your imagination. And have somewhere close and in visible place.

3. Always look for two opportunities: one is to make your costs lower while product quality is the same. Second, always think when you can spread your businesses and get new customers/cover areas and etc. Eventually, after 15 years, you will see your products everywhere.

Of tuna...

1) The cat/tuna story is awesome.

2) I also love the bait/tuna story/thread (will you eat the bait instead of hooking the tuna? if you had $100, would you invest it or spend it? are you a consumer or producer?)

... anyone have a link to the bait/tuna thread?

I'm not so interested in the contest but this stuff should help.

entrepreneur v. wantrepreneur

Summary of wantrepreneur thinking:

1. Its too hard - Being too hard is a good thing
2. Its already being done - Take something that already exists and do it better
3. I don't know how - Teach yourself on a problem by problem basis. Start with a vision of a finished product and figure out how to get there one step at a time
4. I'd like to draw a salary - (Employee mindset) Understand that entrepreneurship is a risk with sacrifice
5. My idea is valuable (anything with the word idea) - Its not the idea that's important. What is important is the execution of it. Execution is hard work. Anything worth value is going to be complicated and will take a long series of execution steps

wishing luck with the class!!

Above and Beyond
1. Every success begins with a WHY, a reason, a base so STRONG that whenever you get tired, it will help keep you eyes on the goal

2. Life is like a painter's canvas, you can decide to paint yours the way you like or allow someone else paint it for you. Let no one screw your art.

3. It's harder to make a dollar than to make a million. Stop wishing, start doing, get one customer first.

Reading books only for the sake of reading, is not effective action. Reading a book to learn how to move a step foward in your current process is.

If you spend all your day reading motivational articles and books to get you "pumped" to work, you dont want it bad enough or you re doing something you hate.

Don´t do something you hate.

Don´t spend your time discussing how to make money in online forums , if you don´t have any sales.

Think about where you are now, point A and where you want to be, point B. Think of all the ways to get to point B, no matter how stupid they seem. Pick the best one and run like hell.

Many people fail at biz due to unreasonable expectations. They fail to respect the fact that acquiring customers requires time, energy, and failure through testing/optimization. Accept that the road is hard and that process is necessary. You'll be far better off that way.

I hate that this advice is so general, but it truly is what I'd give to a wantrepreneur because it seems that so many think starting the next bestselling app or social network is a walk in the park. They spend a few hundred bucks on marketing then give up, assuming that the project never would've worked out.

Neat of you for taking the time out to provide some value to the young'ns. I wish somebody told me years ago to respect process.

I totally agree with this point. Start with the simplest version of your idea, then build on it.

On another note, I wonder if 25 to 365000000000/day is the effect of the addictive nature of cocaine. Get em hooked on your product and growth is limitless.

To think outside the box, you must learn to see the connections that others do not see. Take one thing from over here and one thing from over there, and combine them to solve a problem. The more people with that problem and the more value you create, the more successful you will be in business. [Then go into examples to 'open their eyes'.....]

Do the science and maths to discover for yourself statistically where you will most likely be career wise and financially at the age of fifty years......Now make a plan today and avoid becoming part of that statistic...."The world needs more of you to create, shape, and form the new world of tomorrow as inventors, creators, designers and innovators.....

"Money is like a cat. If you chase the cat, you'll never catch it. If you focus on what attracts the cat, the tuna, it will come to you."

I don't know if I got the quote exactly right. But that cat metaphor from TMF has stuck in my head like nothing else. This little contest aside, I believe you need to somehow incorporate that. People go their entire lives having a fundamentally flawed view of obtaining wealth.

Also, I don't know how anyone could think the ball's air pressure had an outcome on that blowout of a game. But since you're a Dallas fan, I know you're used to having excuses for anything, so I suppose I'll give it a pass and move on. ;)

Ding ding ding...best analogy I have read.

Making a decision? Based it on what you want to happen, not on what you don't want.

1. Problems -Throughout your life you will face numerous problems (challenges). Learn how to attack these problems by working through them as efficiently as you can. It takes patience and practice but you will get better at identifying problems, developing your plan of attack, and taking action to resolve these problems. Learn from these challenges.

2. People - Surround yourself with awesome people. Doesn't matter if they're your employees, colleagues or customers. Devote your time to cultivate strong relationships with the good ones.

3. Process - Everyone needs to find and develop their own recipe for success, it's a process. It takes hard work, patience, perseverance and great determination.

Combine all three and you have the potential to change people's lives. Change enough lives and everything else will take care of its self.

I've posted it before and I will post it again. Consistent, daily action towards a goal will, over time, compound to huge benefits.

"Success is never owned...it is merely leased, and rent is due every day".

Slight Edge Thinking

1) "The Slight Edge is really a philosophy on life that talks about how the little choices we make that may seem insignificant on a daily basis are actually the key to living a life full of success, optimized health and amazing relationships"

2)"You are either on a success curve or a failure curve. The problem is that most people don‟t really completely realize which one they are on until a lot of time has passed. That‟s because we all make a lot of small decisions everyday that don‟t have immediately noticeable results or effects.

3) "Success is more like a marathon than a sprint. You must have self-discipline, persistence and be willing to do what most will not do."

4) "The right choices and the wrong choices you make at the moment will have little or no noticeable impact on how your day goes for you. Nor tomorrow, nor the next day. No applause, no cheers, no screams, no life of death results played out in Technicolor. But it is precisely those very same, undramatic, seemingly insignificant actions that, when compounded over time, will dramatically affect how your life turns out."

Every morning in Africa a gazelle wakes up... it knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed.

Every morning a lion wakes up... it knows it must outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death.

It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle: when the sun comes up you'd better be running.

SO many great posts in this thread. Nearly every post is GOLD. I will be folding a lot of this into what we talk about tomorrow. I will let you know how it goes as I will be opening their eyes a bit to how we think. Several elements from the tuna to the raging river will also be folded in, as CENTS will likely come up.

Meanwhile, it should come as no surprise that ICK came up with the post that you all voted #1 post in this thread. So, I will shoot you a private message @IceCreamKid but you can either take the cash (paypal) or direct the donation to the charity of your choice.

I will be bringing in 60 cans of Coca-Cola for the students, and at the end of the presentation will tell them why the Coke is significant.

Thanks for everyone that participated in this thread. There is a lot of gold in here for people who come behind us to discover.

I have to feature this content on the Mind Your Business show. This is literally one of my favorite threads on the forum because of what each of you did here. You highlighted the most critical parts of the Fast Lane to you personally. This is the stuff people spend a lifetime trying to discover. I may work this in for this coming Saturday.

I know I'm a little late, but wanted to throw my thoughts in:

Sports Quotes:

-I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed. - Michael Jordan

-You miss 100% of the shots you don't take. -Wayne Gretzky

-All that matters in business is that you get it right once. Then everyone can tell you how lucky you are. -Mark Cuban

Some things I've learned about success:

1)The key to success is in executing good habits. Your motivation will always ebb and flow...have the self-discipline use the good times to form good habits, which will get you through the down periods.

2)There is no such thing as B2B, B2C, etc. There is only human to human. Business transactions are conducted between humans. Treat people with respect, meet their needs, and ask them what more you can do for them. Do this and you'll more than likely be successful.

3)Very few people are able to convert their "passions" into anything more than a job. Make your passion building a successful business and be product agnostic.
