I have an Insagram page running which has over 160k followers with an average 6-7k (so far total likes over 1.09 million) and gets about 100-200 comments per post and highest at 600+ comments. I've been building this for more than a year and gaining at at average of 1000 followers per day. It's all through form my hard work and marketing skills. The niche is on Real Estate whereby we post contents on luxury houses worldwide to inspire others out there towards success.

I started monetizing the page last month through advertising for real estate listings and on some other similar contents that matches the page and made a profit of over $600 usd just for that month. I have been brainstorming of ideas of how can I use this instagram page to expand my business? Any business ideas that I can use my Instagram page to drive traffic to the new business. I am a college student and looking for long term business idea which I can venture into and be my own boss.

Thank you.

Maybe you can ask your followers what they like and test it out. I imagine you can also cut deals with advertisers? Luxury brands since people who like luxury housing and stuff will like luxury brands and things inside. (unless this violates instagram's terms now that they're rolling out sponsored posts but I'm sure there are ways to get by it.)

How did you blow up your instagram account to this point?

Thanks for your suggestions.

I believe that Instagram is all about visual communication. A picture speaks a thousand words. There are some important areas that affects on the quality of a post on Instagram. The Photo you post, the time of the day and also the captions of your posts. I believe with this package, the effectiveness of an instagram page will boost. You must be consistent.

Since Instagram only allows links in the profile description, you can create a e-commerce website, and link up to your instagram.
Optimize your site specifically for instgram traffic, most people don't do that.

Mobile-optimized, Reference instagram, and have opt-in for email collection.

Every pic you post, tell them to go to your website for a free related product (chance to win $1000 free amazon gift card) or something like that.

That's when you get the email, send them the same instagram pics in their mail, motivation quotes etc, and then every couple weeks send them a related offer that they can purchase.

If you can even get 10% of people into your site and they sign up to your email list = 16,000 people.

If you send good value emails, and have a responsive list, you now send out an value offer every so often, something they can purchase and say 20% people buy.

Thats 3,200 people.

If your profit of each sale is $20...that's 3200 sales x $20 profit = $64,000 profit of ONE email offer.
You can send one out every month.

Once you have a list, and it's responsive, you can even rent it out.
I could probably find a renter or two for you.

Hope that helps.

That's really nice of you to share with me a detailed idea that you have in mind to monetize from Instagram. Yes I do have a website (which I temporarily unpublished it) for my Instagram page. Just by putting the website link on my bio without promoting it on my posts, it gets an average of 100 visitors per day. The only hard part is to find suppliers for related offers. Will look into it. Thanks for your contribution!

Anytime bro :)

If you need help, shoot me a PM, I can send you hundreds of offers you can sell to them, how to set it up, etc.

Good thing is you have motivated people...because they are looking for motivation right. Can make it happen no problem.

RE listings would be a waste I would think. I imagine most of the followers are younger males that want to look at this type of stuff all the time and dream big. So I would pitch offers or have paid quest posts/promotions for products or services that are targeted towords that demographic.

I think if I promote products/accounts that have totally different niche as my page, I will tend to start losing followers and I don't want that to happen. When I read the comments from my posts, most of them are working adults. I do have quite a lot of followers working under the real estate industry - real estate agents, brokerage etc.

I also have an Instagram account with about 34,000 followers in mens fashion. I've been able to automate my posting through Latergram.me and post a few sponsored post a month that bring in a couple hundred dollars a month.

@Silverhawk851 Great idea, thank you for posting, do you have any experience with Instagram marketing yourself?

@Derekz check out Latergram.me if you need a tool to help automate/cut time on your postings.

Hey Derekz!
Nice work getting so many followers on Instagram!
I have some questions - and I have some ideas - but I'm on the same stage as you, where I can't start a conversation (PM) - so, can you add me on Skype?

Don't get too excited over this, with calculations like these I've burned a lot of money. First of all, you will not get 16k people to sign-up to your list. I'd say it's rather 1-2% is a more reasonable number since 1)instagram is a mobile app 2) as a marketer you have to also address that people don't do things only becaue you say them to do it.
3) Even 1-2% is really good, but you have to put a lot of effort in to building landing pages, etc.
4) It's possible to reach the 20% conversion rate, but it's really hard, and it wont come in one email.
All in all this suggestion is really good, but the numbers are way too unrealistic.
Also, don't just spam emails to the users. A good rule of thumb is the 5 day rule, there alterations of it, but the main goal of it is to create rapport with the customer.
For example:
1,2,3,4 days are promotional emails, you're not selling them anything, just providing good information/making them feel special, etc. That's where direct marketing comes in to play, how good you're at it. Then on the 5th day you sell them. Which is followed by the 3,5,7 rule:
3 – You have three seconds to get someone’s attention
5 – You have five seconds, once you get their attention, to draw them in
7 – If you got this far, you’re lucky. Congratulations. The next seven seconds are critical to sell them the product, be clear and precise.

for sure, not easy at all or realistic.
My main point was to open his eyes to the possibilities, it's been done, and it's getting done

As long as the Possibility is there, with hard work you can get it

10% conversion rate is unrealistic initially, but over time, by continuously converting at 1%, not that difficult to get 16,000 opt-ins if you are providing solid value
But again your right, it's all about skill levels, how good are you at converting

I agree on the 1,2,3,4 rule, you provide value, then eventually give them opportunity to buy. Nothing will come from one email.
Good info +!

Thread is turning out to be good :)

I've been tweaking my e-comm website to kill at instagram traffic.

I've found a bunch of pages always blasting hair loss and strength pills, if that works for them, imagine with a more reliable and converting offer...

Also, another thing for instagram followers it that they tend to be more world spread and not just US, and most offers are really poor at converting non-US traffic.

Thanks for the replies! Just wondering because I do see accounts posting pictures from other accounts for ecommerce purposes for one thing.... I guess it should be generally okay, as long as we also credit the original accounts right? Im still learning about best practices in navigating IG for professional purposes

For all of you guys here with over 80K followers, does your IG account consists of mostly reposts or is it original content?
I've a IG account that reposts funny posts / memes in my niche but it's forever stuck at 4K.

I've tried different posting times etc, but I just can't get that big breakthrough to hit anywhere near 10K, not to mention 160K.
I'm also been actively liking and commenting on followers' posts with real conversation (not just "cool" or "awesome"), but well....

Do you guys spent a lot of $$$ promoting your posts? Run IG giveaways?
