This was one of the facebook profiles impersonating MJ, but it's either been deleted, or he blocked me for calling him out...

Had gone so far as to copy & repost a bunch of MJs actual posts, to look more legit, but given they were all posted on the same day earlier this month (including like a fastlane meetup photo from 2019), it seemed a bit sus even without the very-un-MJ-like language in the messages. Message chain started out exactly the same as the one Andy shared above - ends with asking for a $20k investment in a magic crypto trading platform.

I remember when I was at university, I used to sit in the front row. I asked questions all the time and monopolized professors’ time.

My g-f used to say she was embarrassed to sit next to me. That I had no shame.
I used to sit in the first 3 front rows and had a voice recorder in my bag recording. That was before smartphones became good for everything.

I wasn `t the front row man, but when there was an interesting stuff, I asked a lot, too.
Decades later, I met one of those teachers and asked, if he remembered me asking shit all the time.
He said, he remembers well, as I made him the lessons going and he was happy about every single question I asked.

Wow, this was quite a watch.

Just in his twenties, and this chap Alexandre Cazes, already raked in the millions from his own darknet store, AlphaBay.

Tons of productocracy elements even in his illegal ventures. A good search function, crypto payment system, a 'tumbler' to bundle payments up and throw trackers off the tracks....almost like Amazon.

By July 2017, AlphaBay had over 400,000 users, and around 300,000 listed items. The video also said by then, they were raking in half a million bucks DAILY.

The mastermind got tracked in an embarrassingly weak way though by the cops...and he ended himself in prison.

Goes to show as 'rich' as evil decisions can seem, it can and will bite back.

I see lots of negative talk about school here. My school is honestly a great place. Most males there are decently in shape and confident, we have 2 fat people in the whole high school area, and all the teachers are cool. Recently we had some classes to learn real life things. It included:
-How to make a lease contract to move out.
-A basic lesson on personal finance(it was pretty good tbh)
-A great lesson on finding a potential career (everyone wrote down on a paper what they liked to do and what they were good at and got suggestions based off of that and not of the few jobs they know off)

Classes are mostly pretty fun there, and I am holding myself to a B standard. Not all is bad in the world and I just wanted to make a post talking about something positive.

I watched the video and of course, it’s hard to take down illegal websites and they just keep multiplying (PROBLEM?).

(If anyone executes an idea on that, because of me, you owe me 65% of revenue and shares.)

I agree, but IMO school can be a bit up and down..

One time at school we took a finacial class, and they talked about how we’re the victims of inflation and that there’s nothing we can do etc.

I immediately knew it was going to be some bullshit, I was right.

He said, oh a ps5 is 600 dollars now, but I’m the early 1900’s it would have been worth 100 bucks!

Good luck finding a ps5 when cars were hardly around.

He also pointed out how a Big Mac from mc Donald’s costs like 5 bucks now and in the 1900s it would have been 0.2 dollars.

Honestly, school can be good, but sometimes can teach..weird advice.

Today is my 10th wedding anniversary with my wife! Nothing big planned, but soon we would like to renew our vows with both Canadian and Mexican sides all present. 12th maybe? That is a big goal I HAVE to hit, our parents are not getting any younger and it would be nice to have them all there and together.

I can’t imagine reaching a point in life where I resisted learning new things.

I’m noticing people making this choice… It’s pretty sad.

In the past few days chatgpt has announced a new enterprise version for business. It is said to be the most powerful version of chatgpt available, and will have enterprise security features that include redaction of input data so that it is not included in training chatgpt. According to what I’ve read, this new version is apparently their response to the 10% drop in use of chatgpt in June (I still think the drop was due to the end of the school year!). They indicate it is available immediately but there is no info on pricing.

My questions to you software guys out there: Is this a game changer? It would seem to be, given the security features. But redacting input data seems to be antithetical to the purpose of AI, so how’s that going to work? Finally, how at risk is my individual low-tech data REALLY? I just researched this a lot and the answer seems to be “no one really knows”. Given the potential productivity gains, I’m changing my way of thinking (thanks @uhhfeef for nudging my brain!). Right now I’m leaning towards keeping my high-TAM inventions on the down-low but I’m not going to worry about the others.

Thanks much for any insights offered!

I'm in the middle of raising the retail price on all my books. The prices haven't changed, ever.

Meanwhile, the cost of printing books has gone up 25%+ and the cost of shipping has gone up more than 30% since I got into this business. The price increases will only soften the damage, it won't eradicate it.

I usually don’t have much connection with people I’ve never met and who aren’t in my life, but I am so sad by this. I went to 9 of his concerts. It was a yearly thing for my brother and I for a while, but we fell out of the habit. Every concert was a party, not a bad feeling one.

I’ve definitely been a Buffet fan for most of my life. His music stands forever as the official boat music.

My guess is you’ve been visiting dirty websites? It’s how the internet works with retargeting. The only ads we deploy here are Google ads which works magic at knowing what you like.
The Google ads on here are pretty much indefensible if we're honest. This site is virtually unusable without an ad blocker running. I'm sorry -- it's the truth.

I've never been in to events like Burning Man, always sounded like a place you could get stuck, get robbed, and maybe get a disease you can't get rid of. Sounds like a big mess this year, with 70k people stuck in the mud. The twin tornadoes by the giant bonfire was photogenic. I hope they have a way to get fresh water in, and (in RV parlance) black water out, or there are going to be a lot of diseases.

If an amateur poker player gets beaten by someone doing something dumb they often go "on tilt" (get mad or fearful and no longer play their best game).

Professional players don't bat an eyelid though - they just file it away for future reference.

What's helped me in business is to see everything as a series of tests where my job is to observe the result dispassionately but with interest - same as that professional poker player.

If something doesn't work out then "get curious, not furious".

Come up with a theory about why the results were different than you expected, devise a way to test that theory, and observe the results dispassionately but with interest.

Act. Assess. Adjust.

There's bucket lists; things you want experience before you die...
And dumpster lists; things you want to avoid throughout your entire life. Burning man is on my dumpster list.

More and more I am noticing blatant falsehoods being presented as facts on the internet.

I am convinced we are living in a post fact world.

At this point, if you want to know objective factual statistics on anything, good luck, unless you are looking at 90s data.

The truth still exists, in 2023 it’s just on a giant spectrum of lies that muddy the waters.

We need a dumpster list thread!

-Sleeping on an air mattress. Never again.

-Ever staying in a hostel.

-Getting vaxinated for anything.

-Living in the city.

-Buying another Mercedes.
