Maybe I'll buy one of those anti-microwave Faraday beanies after all? Heh...
Or let’s just ask @Kak to report how he feels from using his. We have a real human testing here.

For anybody reading this who actually believes Elon could have "ended world hunger" instead of buying Twitter, let's do some elementary level math:

There 8 billion people in the world.

That gives us about $5 per person to spend. Hmm, our food options are pretty limited.

Shipping and logistics - getting food to every person on planet earth is going to be a little complicated.

Best case scenario - we get (1) very low quality meal per person one time.

Well done - we spent $45 billion and the whole world got (1) meal.

Congrats!

So this is hilarious...

F1 is coming to Miami this weekend to a brand new track.

And this track has a nice Marina with boats since it's Miami...

Screenshot 2022-05-03 at 22.54.11.png

Except it is nowhere near the coast and the marina and water is fake lol...

Oh no... I thought they were at least filling it with real water wtf is this!

One of my favourite F1 memories is Kimi Raikkonen retiring his McLaren in Monaco but instead of going back to the pits he just jumped on his friends yacht in the marina lol.

Rumor has it that if you drive back into Canada without a verxinootion they flag you for future "no travel lists". They also check your social media for any support of the "emergency act invoking protests" which were deemed legal provincially, and yet shut down by federal militarized police. So supporting things that the Liberals disagree with politically will land you in hot Canadian water. Lovely country.
I have heard that Canadian government literally obliterated the protests against vaccination (which caused some deaths too?). The truckers who started it had their license banned, the people who helped protesters financially had their bank account seized (like they do to terrorists!). Some were taken to jail and all Chaos happened because of forcefully and mandatory vaccine.
And the scariest part, people said media didn't even talked about it.
By these standards my country is much better(at least they dont treat protesters like terorist). The supreme court said that no government(state) can mandate vaccine and force to take it, but some shitheads mandate vaccine for entry in some offices or some places.

"Fortunes are created by taking a lot of risk with a little bit of money, fortunes are maintained by taking a little bit of risk with a lot of money"
I’m not sure fortunes have to be created by taking a lot of risk.

Anyway, along similar lines I like the thinking:

To start we say Yes.
To scale we say No.

I wish. Would love to have one!

It's crazy how affordable it was. I mean, $380k for a freaking missile silo?

Didn't see that part. It's only about 4 hours from my house. Might make a good bugout location with a few upgrades.

I would have called a realtor if this was still available.

didn't he already tell the organisations whose claimed goal is eradicating world hunger he would fund it if they came up with a suitable strategy? they failed

anybody got any good book recommendations on the origins of consumer choice/marketing as we know it? i'm sure i read something (at least a couple of years ago) saying that the reason we have the type of society/capitalism we do is due to Sigmund Freud's nephew, Edward Bernays, figuring out how to manipulate society to subconsciously desire more products or something. I don't remember exactly, but maybe someone here knows :)

yes he did, but the numerically-impaired have persisted.

edit: to add, the ongoing production and distribution of agriculture and food service would be more like trillions. just look at the size of the industries.

true! isn't the centralisation of food-production actually making things worse for poorer aggricultural communities?
i imagine the answer of how elon's money (or anyones) could be used to solve world hunger would involve mass decentralisation and tackling of corruption which is the real reason they couldn't come up with a plan

well, it's not enough money, and nobody can organize single-handedly the job that thousands of people and a multitude of organizations accomplish through a network of different independent tasks (like a farmer selling to a distributor who sells to a few different grocery stores, which is located in a market where people shop, etc)

It's not centrally planned, and if it was, it would be worse. North Korea is 100% central planning. I hear it's wonderful.

Not to mention that Elon's money is his, and that in buying Twitter now the people who sold Twitter now have that money, so why don't they solve world hunger?

And what about all the people who work for Tesla? Without their jobs they would be hungry.

What about the workers at Twitter? Same thing. It goes on and on and on...

my first time logging on here in months... i don't know if anyone cares but i've learn it's important to share regardless of what anyone thinks so...!

i started attending a fellowship. recognising you are an addict is a powerful thing and i had an amazing, productive, happy, first week.

the second week, well, i've been embracing my dark side. i don't feel too good, but when i feel bad feelings, i'm letting them in, thinking back to their roots, and accepting them.

trying to change past memories is an empowering feeling, yet the feeling itself hard to overcome due to the times the feeling was successful. e.g. learned vulnerability is useless 95% of the time.. but it has been successful when i needed it 5% of the time which makes it hard for my mind to leave it behind.

i don't fit in, i've always had a loneliness so heavy it feels like it could fall through the earth, the downside being sadness, the upside being strengthened independence, a unique way of viewing the world, etc.

entitlement makes me feel like i DESERVE success as i've learnt sooo much about business, spirituality, religion, history, culture, etc. yet i realise it's only in letting go of the feelings and thoughts created in my mind God enters my life and makes doing the necessary work effortless.

i just turned 25. i sometimes feel like i'm slipping behind, but the mistakes i made at 20, buying a house i couldn't afford to complete, being in a relationship that was harmful, etc. might be realised by others at 35 - and regardless, comparison isn't useful.

quitting all my meds felt so liberating, but tackling the underlying problems is scary. i question, what if i really never earn money again? what if that effortless passion never comes to me like it did a decade ago?

even at my fellowship with other addicts i feel so.. uniquely differently. but i remember that my ideal self would deal with their issues, so i keep going. it's hard though. i am tired.

the here and now is the only place things exist, i need to let my memories of the past and expectations of the future go.

Also the fact that governments support food lobbies by incinerating food if prices drop 'too low.'
