Any serious poker players on this forum?

Any recommendations on autobiographies / biographies of / about top poker players?

It seems like a skill worth learning to do well.

Do you have to go to the gym to train legs ? Can it be done with calistenics ? I dislike the TV plus Mirrors ambient of most gyms, and rather exercise in a park in nature. My legs are ok but I would prefer to haven them really strong. Any advice?

Rucking.

Walk with loads surely strengthen your legs.

Climbing stairs up too will help.

Nope. I have been purely doing bodyweight here for years, focusing on functional fitness, being lean and mobility (so if you want to gain muscle mass I can't help) . I use these:
- split lunges
- squats / jump squats / cossack squats (+ barbell if you have and want) / pistol squats
- lunges (bonus of you have barbells)
- jump rope
- calf raises
- standups
- burpees / burpees squat jump / burpees box jump

F*ck hand sanitizer. I am so sick of everyone dousing themselves in this every chance they have. What did everyone do three years ago? How ever did we survive?

I started refusing it about a month ago, and this wild rash I have been fighting on the back of my hand has 100% cleared up, just as easy as that.

Oh, and stop trying to slather my toddlers in it as well. They don't need it.

Who knows what toxic brew lurks in your paste.

@Kevin88660 and @S.Y. gave excellent ideas.

I'd add hill sprints to that and jump training (trying to jump as far as possible forward, to each side, and upward).

You could also play with a running parachute (I never used it but it looks like an awesome tool for adding resistance).

My son caught Covid. The first day he was pretty down with a high fever; but from the next day on, he was almost back to normal. Kids! They have that awesome ability to heal.

Yesterday, few days after he tested positive, I got up, not feeling well. I could immediately sense something is off. I have not done a test, but I suspect I am positive as well or at very least I am fighting something.

So I look at my Garmin watch and see this:

Screen Shot 2022-04-17 at 6.04.05 AM.png

Ouch.

I didn't have my watch on my wrist for the first half of the day. I put it at noonish.
I was just laying down. For comparison, this is a normal day where I was resting:

Screen Shot 2022-04-17 at 6.07.20 AM.png

On my Oura ring, which I use for sleep tracking:
- my resting heart rate has been trending up the last couple of nights
- my heart rate variability plummeted from around 60 to 20 (highest HRV is better)
- the Readiness score has also been trending down. I am on average above 80. It went down to 60 to now 24 - my lowest number ever.

So last night I was subjected to a bar/club sort of thing. Why are people supposed to like these places?

It was so loud my ears hurt, I had to shout for anyone to hear me so it also hurt my throat, the beer was gross and expensive, it was hot and crowded, the people smelled and it was subsequently dirty. This is supposed to be a good time? Oh, and the music is just terrible.

If hell was real, it would be a night club. What an absolute joke of human "achievement".

Thankfully we left after an hour or so and went to an outdoor restaurant that had live music showcasing people with actual talent. Fingers crossed I don't have to experience another "night club" for many, many years.

You are now officially old. Welcome to the club. Plenty of room for you here.

Just the other day I was pissed off because in my neighborhood there are too many people with super cars. They are so loud. It’s so annoying. Morning? Yeah. Nights? You bet. Everyone and their damn dog has a Ferrari or a Lambo and revving it up because they want the world to know their dick is now a full inch longer.

I've never been to a night club, never drunk alcohol (let alone taken any other drugs), and never been to any parties in school. I avoid places with loud music and don't even like movie theaters as they're too loud for me as well.

I don't regret any of it. I'll take a forest every day over any urban venue. I'm a bit of a wild brute and I feel good that way.

What's funny is that many people I know who used to find my choices strange or at least hard to understand have now largely moved away from this stuff as well.

I guess like @Antifragile said, welcome to the club of old guys. I was born old lol.

For the record I have never enjoyed any clubs. I like live music and such, but clubs with generic bass heavy music? No thanks!!

What's your percentage breakdown of traffic per device type?

For my main website now:

Mobile: 65%
Desktop: 18%
Laptop: 15%
(Desktop+Laptop): 33%
Tablet: 3%

I wanted to change the formatting of my long-form articles (add some columns, images in-text, etc.) but realized it makes no sense since on mobile it won't look any different anyway.

85% mobile
15% desktop

Something to consider, more for ecom, but it could kind of apply to you, conversion rates on desktop are generally much higher.

Plus with your numbers that’s still a significant amount of people so it’s probably worth doing.

I guess you need to work out what the goal would be for doing that, more conversions or just better user experience?

I’m not sure if bounce rate and scroll depth and session duration have any influence on seo but that could be something else to justify the changes.

Better user experience but overall it might not be exactly something that everyone will like. So I'll probably stick with simplicity.

I imagine they should play a role but it depends on the website. Makes sense for long-form content, doesn't make much sense for a landing page.

Does anyone here have an interest in F1?

I was going to make a thread, but not sure how many people on here follow it.
Have only missed a handful of races in 20 years. Super rare to find people interested outside of the Autosport forum though.

Thought Apple taking 30% of your revenue was insane?
Thought the tax man taking 40% of your profit was insane?

Zuckerfuck has plans to take nearly 50% of your revenue, just like the good socialist he is.

If you people continue to support these companies, they continue to be encouraged and rewarded for treating you like cattle.

People need to be using it for that to work though... I don't think it's that popular.

What is your favorite resource for learning to think 10 steps ahead?

What questions does a very forward thinker ask that less forward thinkers do not ask?

What questions does Elon Musk ask? How does he approach things differently from not Elon Musks?

I feel limited by the questions I ask. Like I stay 2 or 3 steps ahead at best. I want new ways to train my brain to think more forwardly. Not some quick-fix solution, but like daily questions or practices to build a new style of thinking into habit.

Any suggestions? Books, podcasts, or anything else are welcome.
