Sometime in the last six months, I wrote a late-night blog post about hiring freelance workers from overseas at $4 per hour, and how a lot of my American friends get upset about that because it's taking away from American jobs.
Thought nothing of it, but one day I got an email to my personal email address (which I don't put out there) from a photo editor and a writer from Inc. Magazine saying they were going to list me in their November 2015 edition.
I'm not sure if it hit print because I didn't check yet, but the other day I noticed I was getting some increase in traffic to my website and noticed this:

Main takeaways from this experience:
1) When you put work out there, it doesn't always pick up right away. An article I wrote sometime in the last six months got picked up by one of the biggest magazines out there, and the inc.com article has over 37,000 social media shares as of the time of this writing.
Keep putting great things out there.
2) It seems like myself (and the two others listed above me) were supplementing a larger topic they had on their radar for a while. In the future, I'm going to take notice about major trends in the industry and begin writing higher quality posts contributing to those topics.
3) Hire a professional photographer. That was the highest quality picture I had of myself, and they cut out the sweat marks on the shirt (hiking in Sedona) for it.😀
Anyhow - just wanted to share that experience for others out there with this message: When you put things out there, they can pay off...regardless if you don't see results right away.
