My story. Ive always been an entrepreneur. From owning my own team of shoplifters aiding my Yugioh card dueling team of 64 members when I was 15, to running my current electronics repair shop today, I’ve learned a lot but Ive NEVER learned as much as I have in the last 4 days reading MJs book. I can’t believe how much of a freakin SIDEWALKER I have been. Wow.
When I was 18 I started a guerrilla marketing company where my high school buddies would pass out flyers for me in parking lots while I raked in the dough… I should have stayed there, because all of a sudden sidewalk desires struck me in the form of the Infiniti G35. I left my hustle to get a job at Conns as a salesman so I could have tax paperwork to get me into my bright new shiny red Infiniti… I still had income from my marketing company but the nice cushy $600 a week turned to $150 a week causing me to turn to my conns income to supply my lifestyle servitude in paying for that nice new Infiniti and its $4000 insurance plan… I had effectively Sidewalked.
Having a job is totally not a safe bet, I lost that Conns job just a few months later, leaving me with debt (I bought furniture and TVs with that nifty employee discount) and a nice shiny red Infiniti. I felt duped, betrayed, and blamed everyone for my fall. I was crushed. I went back to flyer distribution… this time as an employee… making $6 an hour for 4 hours a day. I could not survive.
I went back to my entrepreneur roots and started a company cleaning carpets but somehow negotiated myself out of ownership rights and went into profit sharing, effectively not owning my own company. Long story short we had a few good months and then meteorically plummeted. And I traded in that shiny new red infiniti… For another freakin Infiniti…
At least this one was more of a luxury Sedan, an M45. I was soooooo focused on impressing my peers, but all of it was an illusion. I was dead inside. I went back to passing out flyers, in the hot, unforgiving, Houston sun. I had gotten a raise, $7 an hour and 6 hours a day! Yippee! With an m45 to pay for and credit cards in the mix this obviously wouldn’t cut it so I once again played my entrepreneurial card and this time opened my current business. RepairXperts, currently pasadena Tx biggest electronics service center!
The first year sucked, no money, long hours, no security, m45 to pay for, credit cards to pay for, rent, bills, etc. The second year we hit 250,000 gross and guess what! Time for a trade in! My stupidity made me the ULTIMATE SIDEWALKER! I BOUGHT A BMW 335i! WOW. I was now the idiot who showed up to every party in a Nice shiny new BMW while wearing a Breitling SuperOcean. Look at the big man. What a role model! NOPE! I was dead inside. LIFESTYLE SERVITUDE at its finest. I opened a second store with absolutely NO RESEARCH and watched it wither away along with over $30,000 of my blood sweat and tears… I closed it down within 4 months… In that 4 months it earned me $2400.00 So guess what, to cheer myself up… guess what I did… Trade in! I now rock a nice powerful Camaro SS AND I bought my girlfriend a Nissan Murano! What a rockstar I was! Meanwhile I took on 2 personal loans and another credit card! Now I have to come up with 3 freaking grand a month just to pay my bills! I don’t own a house, I don’t own my cars, I don’t own squat. My business does its thing but it isn’t growing, and hiring all my friends got me into more Lifestyle servitude in having to pay that payroll! I am the perfect image of a sidewalk who is blessed beyond imagination and continues to piss it away.
However I have made a vow to myself and my wife to get my a$$ off the sidewalk and into the fast lane. Why? Simple.
I want to provide stability
I want ENJOY LIFE
I want to solve other peoples problems
I want to be a blessing
I want to prove others wrong
I want to retire young
I want to spoil my kids
I want to to crack the code to life
I want to serve God’s purpose in my life
I want to make my mom happy and ease her burden
I want to make my wife happy.
I am currently 25, I have gone full circle and am back to my store. I am working to grow my sales, which have gone stagnant. I still have the camaro because I am about $8000 upside down on it. I have to wake up at 4 am to drive Uber to make ends meet. I work 50+ hours at my store and while people still think Im rich Im dying. My life sucks, and Im sick of it. I have ideas for websites and MJ has me determined to learn web design, and make something from nothing. Thank you MJ. Thank you for helping me find my vision again. I don’t care what others think of me anymore. I want to win life.
The current situation summed up
Repairxperts (sales slow but steady)
Candy Machines (partnership in candy machine route worth %25 but only running 20 out of 110 machines)
Uber (I hate it but Im doing what I feel I have to to pay these lifestyle servitude bills.)
Retail Arbitrage on eBay(Not running anywhere near full throttle)
I guess Im asking for advice/critique
Thank you in advance,
And again THANK YOU MJ DeMarco FOR KICKING MY a$$.
I want to go Fastlane, and I have chosen now as the time.
