What should the work to enjoyment/socialising ratio be when you are a teenager?

I understand the concept of not having a work-life balance when you are trying to become ultra succesful, and I fully embrace it.

I turn 15 next month and have summer vacation now. My current "project" is an instagram theme page.

My question is just about how much this unbalanced lifestyle concept applies when you are my age. My parents want me to be more with friends and socialise. I wake up at 5 am (hours before my friends) and go to the gym alone. Then when I come home I sit down with my PC and work on reels.

When I say enjoyment I'm not talking about unhealthy and deteriorating activitires like video games and such. I am more talking about going on a fishing trip, or exploring the nearby islands together with my friends (I live in south norway, ad boats are very common).

Should I try to avoid these enjoyment activities as much as possible, or do them more often?

Well, the key word is "balance", and what suits some people won't be right for you. Do you feel as if you're missing out on trips with your friends? Are you getting much value out of creating your themes? Can you take a few days away from that now and again to do real world stuff with mates? If you can, and you won't spend all the time in a big grump because you're not sitting at your screen, then it sounds like you should. Maybe not every time they ask, but maybe not never. Maybe you'll have a great idea for something while you're out with your friends that might never have occurred to you if you missed the trip.

As long as the trips with friends do not consume 100% of your time (as some Instagram influencers try to depict), I think it's perfectly alright to go on the outings.

Just plan XXX day for 1-2 trips, and XXX time for your other projects. Nothing rocket science about it.

Good on your parents for wanting you to socialise. How many other kids are stuck comatose in front of their devices-- day in and out?

Also you don't seem to have six-figures of debt or a family to feed...so that is one blessing too.

Now if you DO wanna take on a more 'strategic' approach to trips or leisure, they can be great networking opportunities too. Go check out Facebook groups or Meetup.com places where people band together for fairs, seminars or even short trips. I'm talking sports, trekking, or just eat-outs. Even local churches MAY have events too.

It takes more effort, courage and due diligence (so you don't get cheated)...but you may get a whole host of new experiences and meet potentially Fastlane-minded folks too.
