I have a relative who has been running a liquor store for two years, and after going over the numbers with him, he tells me the business is not making a profit. I have tried to help him by increasing the advantages he has over the competition and even by improving his local marketing. However, in the area there are about 10 similar stores and they all compete on price… I have already told him many times to leave this liquor store because it hasn’t even allowed him to live modestly, and he even had to start working night shifts at a hospital to cover the total costs. He says that at any moment his luck will change and his business will succeed.
This really disgusts me, but I can’t help him anymore… Any project can fail. But how long would you stick with a project that isn’t going well? How long does it take to know when it’s time to change businesses? How long is that awful desert supposed to last?
