I've been working freelance for most of my career and I'm curious as to what people are really taking home at a "normal job" (which people are always trying to talk me into ...)
If I got a $65k job, what percentage of that could I expect to actually take home after health insurance, taxes, 401k etc. -- I know it's different for everyone, but that's why I'm asking, what percentage of your salary do you actually take home?
Yes, I pay taxes and health insurance as a freelancer, but I have a lot more flexibility on things like health care costs and expenses / deductions being self-employed. Plus I don't pay the transportation cost of commuting and don't need things like nicer clothing to show up to work with.
