I've learned a ton and am continuing to learn from @AceVentures, @GPM , and @Timmy C and many others in the Bitcoin / Cryptocurrency Discussion (And Predictions) thread. The amount of information in that thread is incredible.

With how deep that thread is, I thought it might be good to create a separate thread that lists out some of the best tools, resources, and exchanges for investing in crypto are using that people can refer to who are new to cryptocurrency like myself.

Some general questions to start it off:

What exchange are you using to trade?

Centralized:
  • Binance

Decentralized:
  • Uniswap on the Ethereum network
  • Pancakeswap on the Binance Smart Chain.

What trading tools do you use?

  • Dextools: Useful for checking out charts, checking the amount of holders of a token, seeing the recent transactions of a token and checking out the liquidity.

  • Etherscan: Useful for tracking transactions on the network. E.g. you can verify whether liquidity has actually been burned if the devs claim so. You can also see the distribution of holders of a token. Can also check what large wallets are doing, based on an assumption that large wallets know what they are doing or can at least impact price of a token.

What resources do you use to follow crypto news?

What reliable sources for mining information? Best places to learn mining basics? (@GPM ?)

I'll try to update this main post with the recommendations so that it is easy to look through the list of recommendations.

Whenever working on the Ethereum network and trading through eg. Uniswap I usually like to use:

- Dextools: Useful for checking out charts, checking the amount of holders of a token, seeing the recent transactions of a token and checking out the liquidity.
- Etherscan: Useful for tracking transactions on the network. E.g. you can verify whether liquidity has actually been burned if the devs claim so. You can also see the distribution of holders of a token. Can also check what large wallets are doing, based on an assumption that large wallets know what they are doing or can at least impact price of a token.

Whenever working on the Binance Smart Chain and trading through e.g. Pancakeswap I usually like to use:

- Poocoin: Practically BSC's version of Dextools.
- Bscscan: BSC's version of etherscan.

Sorry, no clue about this. Only have a proof of stake token that I stake.

I don't do trading. Trading is not my thing and it basically also includes trading your time for money. Unless u play it for fun.

Currently I invest crypto only what i can afford to lose:

1. BTC, ETH, Dodgecoin
2. Liquidity Pool
3. High Yield USDC stable coins like BlockFI

As a centralized resource it's a Binance. If we talk about some great analytics - then it's Coin Bureau and Digital Asset News. But honestly saying, I've started spending a lot of time in analyzing gambling sphere of crypto-related business. People do like games, like this for example, one of the best bitcoin casino games I've played. The most alluring stuff - when you offer them to earn some bitcoins or any other crypto currency for a few wins.

Centralised: FTX as fiat gateway

Dex: I also use dex aggregator to have higher staking reward. Autofarm is one on bsc chain.

If you do trade you can also look at whales alert, cryto fear and greed index, google trends stats..

Check out the Whiteboard Crypto channel on Youtube. He offers a very comprehensive overview of the crypto space, as well as individual topics. News aggregator Crypto Panic is really good to research current events and sentiment. Messari for tech analysis and reports (Their 2021 free NFT report is good).

There are tons of opportunities in this newish ecosystem; too many if you ask me (from decentralized content creation, to high-frequency trading). My approach has been to scout the space from a high view (learning a little of everything) and then focusing and doubling down on 1-3 areas which I enjoy and can leverage my business and money systems. It is the wild west right now, and a perfect time to get your feet wet.

One other thing I've noticed this past week is that blockchain systems are able to mirror pure capitalism. Check out the case of Sunflower Farmers and the Polygon network. They created a contract (in this case a PtE game) which was easily exploited and had system-wide repercussions for all Polygon users. No matter how much complaining or 'calls to action' made to the Polygon developers to stop/cancel the contract interactions; no outside interference can occur and the market forces are playing their part in stabilizing the 'economic system' as I write. Article for ref: Sunflower Farmer Game

One last thing, crypto is a market, meaning that it's made up of people and their sentiments (greed and fear). Therefore, data and your understanding of fundamentals is your best tool to navigate it; not your cousin Lenny's hot new take on a sh*tcoing that's going to the moon.
