Greetings everyone!
I currently work at a Walmart, and I recently had a chat with my coworker. He'd been working at the store since before the covid pandemic, and started out in the electronics department. When he was working back then, he told me that he was very good at persuading customers at buying electronic devices, such as computers, PCs, TVs, gaming consoles, and more. He had contributed to the store tremendously, increasing its sales. However, he was upset about this because despite all the effort he put and value provided, his pay rate was the same. No raise, promotion, or commission. His value to the store didn't benefit him, but only the slave-masters holding his leash, only paying him based on time worked, not value provided. This conversation stood out to me because it made me remember one important lesson: in most jobs, effort is not valued, but only wasted time is valued.
