Sure, thanks to both of you for the great question. Attaching pain is different for everyone, you have to try different methods, but they all start the same, you have to identify the reason you are doing something first. Once you have that...

What is at stake if you DON'T do it?

Let's use the gym example. There are two primary reasons one goes to the gym, health and vanity (not a negative thing).

So once you identify which it is in your mind (and honestly for the gym, once you start going and see how it sets you up day to day physically and mentally your body takes the habit over, vs your mind and will power anyway) ... you can figure out what's at stake if you do not.

Trying to improve your look to get a significant other, if you don't go, you are no closer to that goal then when you started, you will be a fat loser sitting on the couch letting life fly by in no time! Sweet right? That's the guy/girl you've always dreamed of being right?

Let's use social leverage here too... what do your friends, family, potential mates think and say about you? Are you just the fat guy sitting around not doing shit in life? That sounds like the type of dude everyone wants to date!

@G-Man Keep in mind I am not talking about you here, just using your example .

On top of that, once you have your reasons and what's at stake, you can set up with a friend or even web apps that use escrow to increase the pain, You miss the gym today? send $100 to a competitor via a buy, or an opposing political party, or Scientology , or whatever it is that you don't want to win in life.... because let's face it, if you aren't trying to beat them everyday, you are helping them anyway so might as well speed it up right?

This is the foam on the latte in terms of strategies and tactics, part of the reason I do this as a coach is because I tailor fit it to each client. That being said, if you are committed to the process, find a few methods that you think might work, and start .... literally today.

The reason this is the only bold part of this post, if you leave the site of a plan without taking action, you already started failing it.

@G-Man you know what this means for you.... get that $100 out and send it off. I bet you wont miss the gym the rest of the week.

Wanted to bring something up here specifically, your target "talking to pretty girls" What does that do for you long term? what is the ultimate goal there and is that the best use of your time to accomplish it? (no right or wrong answer here)

Thanks for your comprehensive answer! I think the "reason and what's at stake" part is really important and I will implement it directly after my vacation.

I don't understand the "increasing pain" part. Aren't the reasons and what's at stake enough to motivate me? Why do I have to punish myself if I miss my habit? What kind of relationship do I build with myself with this behavior?

And an answer to your question. I am still kind of young (21^^) and I want to live out myself sexuelly with different women and also experiement a bit. Dating many women challenges me also personally which helps me to develop my personality and generally I recognized that my love life has a lot of influence on my happiness therefore it influences a lot of other parts of my life positively if I manage to have a balanced sex life. In the long term I will be grown personally in my relationship with myself and other people.
The ultimate goal is to life myself out sexuelly and improve myself along the way. which I will be able to reach through dates with many women and reflecting on myself + reading about this topic.

Now here is my week:

As you can see I'm quite bad in every habit because I'm visiting my aunt since Monday in France. Therefore I'm not able to talk to pretty women and I'm often too distracted for working on my project. - with my project I just didn't prioritize correctly in the week.

Next week I will stand up earlier to work at least a bit everyday on my project!

I'll stay in France until Friday therefore I won't be able to approach strangers in that period but I will find some time for my project.

Some progress this week! 4/8 days last week were after 12pm. This week I have kept all days in the AM and generally just feel a shift in my sleeping pattern. The two issues I have found that are holding me back from further progress are waking up and working on the phone in bed for 1-2 hours instead of just getting up straight away. The second is going to sleep too late. All are being addressed.

Thanks for asking.

Had to put my health first. Feeling well now.

When life throws a bunch of stuff at you, it's easy to postpone things that are not a priority in the moment (or that don't seem like they are). Until afternoon. Until evening. And then until tomorrow.

So I was thinking how can I better handle this going forward, and came up with this:

I'll have a set time in my schedule for working on building a business.

And will see to make it early in the day, before everything else gets in the way.

A big part of this is working towards consistency right? Looking back:
1. I don't get up on time when I go to bed late
2. I don't stretch when I get to bed late

Those 2 can be fixed by me paying attention to my bedtime. I commit to fixing it.

This week I've been working on building my business for 0 hours.

Of course, I had reasons, similar like past week, but that's not helpful.

I started working out, sparingly but it still means a lot. I think that will help me finally get started next week.

This week wasn't good but it wasn't bad either. - I moved to Munich and therefore the first part of the week was busy. Next week I will especially fokus on talking to women and working on my project first thing in the morning.

This week wasn't that bad. I know my talking to strangers habit is still ugly but this week I was productive as hell. You only can see a bit of it because I did a lot of preparation for university too.

My why's kept me motivated as well. :)

I will focus more on my talking to strangers habit while keeping the rest as good as now.

Also I had some bad days with porn (probably because the moving was emotionally kind of hard) but I'm back on track and keep my why's in front of me!

Thanks for the encouragement! Also a thank you to a forum member who reached out via message to check if all is ok with me.

So, the only two things I've stayed consistent in over the past 5 weeks is posting in this thread, because I keep my word, and doing the work that I live from, because I'm a reliable worker.

And not much else.

Yes, there was a rough period for me, but it's better now and I'm still not starting anything. Not just business related.

I keep setting my clock to 4am and deciding that from tomorrow I'll be the decisive, go-getter dude that I was.

And then I find ways to not go to bed before 2am, then wake up later and spend the day working and taking naps.

I don't know why I acted so lazy by now.

But I can't ignore the encouragement I received here, and need to start tomorrow - thanks again guys.

Finally I'm back at it! Working on my business.

It was hard getting myself to start, but once I did, my eagerness returned so quickly and easily, after having none for weeks. Now I just need to keep going.

Jet lag never gets easier that's for sure.. Anyway, finally getting caught up and back in the groove, will post my week here on Saturday.

Ps. Anyone that started this and hasn't followed through, that is why you are poor. Poor in money, health, and happiness. You commit with your mouth but not with yourself.

Great work to those that have stayed committed, this is your first step toward momentum, confidence, and a better life!
