Should I be worried about this order?

I have a product that have 5 variations. Each variation has sub-variation. For example, black glasses is one variation and sub-variation is color of lens. This product looks similar to all other sellers. There are more than 4 brands selling similar things.

2 variations are ranked well and on first page #4 and #5 listing. The rest of the variations are on the second page.

I got a pending order on Amazon for all of the inventory left available for the 2 variations. I have a feeling it is one of our direct competitor but I am not 100% sure.

Should I be worried? How do I prevent them from returning and making them unsellable (breaking them)?

Since it is coming through Amazon I don't think there is much you can do. If it is FBA nothing, if it is FBM you may be able to cancel the order but it will hurt your metrics.

I know that some categories offer a maximum unit purchase where you can limit the number of units a person can purchase in a single order.

Send them a message to thank them for the order and ask what they intend to do with the product(s)

Gather data incase you need to take legal action against them.

Exactly. Paper trail is important here.

I had a large quantity order once. I emailed the buyer and asked why such a large order. They responded that they were including my products in a giveaway contest that included many other products. They were kind enough to send a link for proof.

I doubt you have to worry. Sometimes you get weird orders on amazon. It always weird to feel nervous about an abnormally large order. I've been there before.

Pretty much what everyone says above-get in contact, keep records, gather info just in case etc.

From the consumer side I've had a few retailers email me about odd orders at times and I'm always happy to explain. I think I ordered 5 shirts in one size and similar shirts in next size up. They asked if I was confused about their sizing, I said no I'm just getting fatter by the day.

Thanks for all of your inputs.

Based on his info, it appears to be a DJ :) It appears to be a legit sale and I assume the DJ will be using for his team or fans.
