Hey Y'all. It's been a while.
I put in my two week's notice last week. I work as a marketing manager in a 70-year old industrial manufacturing automation company.
Since my last posts on the forum (somewhere around 2017) I've:
- Gotten married
- Bought a cheap ($235k) house
- Quit freelancing in the digital art niche to take a w2 in Jan 2023
- Worked a few W2's for about 18 months before burning out.
- Found out I have Inattentive ADHD and high-functioning Autism.
- Written my first novel (details below)
Suffice to say-- a lot of life got lived in those past 7 years...But not a lot of wealth or business progress was made.
So what am I going to do with limited savings, a house to pay for, and newfound neurodivergence?
I'm going to work my a$$ off to stay afloat while building a business.
My skills:
- Building websites (Wordpress, Squarespace, Webflow, carrd.)
- Marketing (content, creative/collateral, copywriting, email, ads)
- Project management/Delegation
- Graphic Design
- Sales (Sandler Training)
- 2D/3D Art and Animation
- Video Editing
- Data Analysis (Excel, Python, G4, PowerBI/Tableau)
- Marketing management/automation
- Music Production/Audio Engineering
My niches I'm testing:
www.emaxion.com <- Custom B2B services aimed at Business growth (I was able to help the companies I was in measurably, but I lack the infrastructure to do it for myself.)
- A cookbook for a very specific type of diet/cuisine (I had 1 sale for this I made through IG, but ended up refunding because the cost of developing the recipes and designing the book didn't add up.)
- Tools and systems for neurodivergent productivity OR tools and systems for polymath productivity
- Several other niche sites based on keyword research I've done
So, as you can see the path is still fairly cloudy.
I'm trying to nail down what critical drivers I can in each of these pursuits to get the first sale or lack thereof and move onto the next. I know it's really bad to spread one's energy so thin, and aim to surmount that issue by validating ONE of these things from a CENTS perspective and scaling once it work$$$.
I hope to share the research and execution in this thread, and to, for the first time in my life, have a true shot at wealth. Not a passion-fueled dream, but a calculated and highly-prosperous traversal of economic realities intermixed with self-discipline.
I'll be sharing that journey here. The biggest strides I've ever made were from leveraging forums and being able to gather feedback as I work.
Here's to the process!

Regarding the novel, you can see my quick landing page at www.guildeon.com. I currently am struggling to finish illustrating the cover or release the final copy of the book on Amazon. It's 212K words and I really like the world I've woven, but I'm afraid to go all-in on it, burning through savings and taking a job again.
