While the unveil is still ongoing, the Apple's new Vision Pro augmented reality device was a big disappointment to me. The last thing I want to do is integrate reality with more icons, screens, and emojis. The stock price also started declining during the unveil, so perhaps the market was disappointed too.

How many companies has Daymond invested in that we haven’t heard horror stories about?

He could be a complete jerk, but I’m going to hope this BBQ guy was just impossible to work with, always had a problem, and the relationship just grew toxic.

The news always wants some story about the predatory rich guy screwing someone over.
Maybe a little bit of both.

In RE, I have worked with professional athletes and professionals like doctors and lawyers. They have one thing in common. They think they know everything and most of the time they end up losing a lot of money because they don't take advice well. I could have saved them all that pain if I could have gotten their ear. But they were so successful in their own fields that they thought they knew it all. I sure wouldn't want any of them for a partner!

I couldn’t watch the YT of the newest Apple product past this image of a father having yet another way to ignore his children.

I may have to eat my words if this becomes a popular product, but for now I’m not interested.

Agreed. I swear, every time I hear the phrase "stay connected!" or "don't miss valuable content" I want to puke.

No, I'm not interested in staying "connected" or smothering myself with "content" -- I want to disconnect from this insanity.

If you want to laugh, check out Ryanair's Twitter.

They spend their day humiliating their own customers online.

Ryanair is Europe's biggest and most profitable airline.

The ultimate productocracy.

View attachment 49165
Not a european but Ryanair oddly gets brought up and outright trashed in quite a few videos I've seen be they about travel or not.
Isn't their main skew just that they're incredibly cheap? I've heard a loose comparison that they're like spirit airlines but somehow worse and the flights manage to hit turbulence for about 95% of the time the plane is in the air.
I think it's odd because I keep hearing about how great european rail infrastructure is, but if airplane tickets are anywhere near as expensive in europe as they are for u.s. flights, I'm guessing paying 1/5th the cost for twice the risk of dying in a fiery crash is their main pull?

Dude it is europe we are talking about, not the 3rd world.

Ryanair's planes arent worse than any other airlines, and the risk of crashing isnt bigger than in any other airlines.

And doesn’t it look kind of creepy?

My opinion is not popular but a lot of this technology is like a genetic mutation to mankind’s progress.

Let’s corrode mankind’s spiritual and intellectual capital.

In much the same way a virus or bacteria attempts to interject its DNA or set of instructions. This piece of crap will channel a set of instructions to those willing to put it on.

No thanks. I’ll light a candle , pray and read a good spiritual book.

Today I got destroyed by my hayfever. I have a thing in my room that cleans the air, I take medication and yet I woke up almost unable to breathe.

It could be something else but if this condition persists I will try some experimental therapy if necessary. I can survive a few days with suffering but I won't live the whole summer like this.
What do you take and doz you have an asthmatic component as well?

My take on the usage of the old iPhone/iPad icons was to initially give the users something they were still comfortable with, instead of throwing in a totally new interface that throws everyone out of whack.

It's the developers and the first adopters that have to answer HOW Vision will look like.

Similar to how third-party developers shaped the App Store.

The current price point is far out of most consumers' budgets...so it appears it's for those pioneers to start using as a testbed for future updates. Not for us YET.

Fun fact on the App Store: Steve Jobs initially did not allow developers to have a software development kit to create their own apps. Quite a silent protest at the 2007 keynote that introduced iPhone, but it seems Jobs picked that up and released the SDK next year.

Talk about listening to market feedback...

The sad thing is that if the market LOVES using tech to distract itself from life's miseries...they will continue
voting for it.

And it's not the tech's fault. It's the life values we all choose to hold to daily.

In the tourism industry, customers (tourists) assume that the more there is, the more they're going to pay, and the more they're going to look like tourists.

Nobody wants that.

Therefore, tourism is a sector where less is more.

The cafés that win the heart of the tourists are the dark, dirty, uncomfortable and ugly ones because it's assumed they're local, hence that they're cheaper, hence that you will look less like a tourist if you go there.

Agreed. I swear, every time I hear the phrase "stay connected!" or "don't miss valuable content" I want to puke.

No, I'm not interested in staying "connected" or smothering myself with "content" -- I want to disconnect from this insanity.

That's why short content wins nowadays (Twitter, short newsletters, etc)

Mastering the Markets?

How about being authentic?

Start a hedge fund with billions under management and you'll make billions irrespective of what the market does.

End of class.

But nope, this undoubtedly will be Slowlane bullshit, buy value companies, buy this, buy that. (Never mind that our management fees is what made us centa-millionaires and billionaires.) They're missing Cathie Wood here too, I'm sure she has a lot to say about "mastering the markets."

To be fair, they are being authentic, they just left out the second half of the title "Mastering the Markets: Puppeteering the Slowlaners.

It's amazing how blinded people are by results, even when there are no logical connections between their proposed cause-and-effect. It's analogous to steroid users in the fitness industry -- everyone flocks to their advice because they are the biggest and strongest while ignoring the fact that they cheated. Different space, same gimmicks.

steroids.png

TLDR -- a steroid user sitting on the couch will build 50% more muscle than a non steroid user who works out at the gym. You cannot compete with cheaters. Similarly, taking the advice from these wall street clowns just because they have large, bulging bank accounts ignores the fact that they are cheating the game -- the only market they've mastered is convincing idiots to give them guaranteed fees regardless of the results of their advice.

Money managers routinely tell me to sell my RE and put the money into the stock market for them to manage. It's that 1% per year that really messes with my head. What a racket! It's like they don't think I can see them coming?????

Yup, same here. I don't even have an Apple Watch for that reason!

Now there must be an enterprising porn entrepreneur, like some artists on OnlyFans ... who'll pioneer the proper use this this hands free augmented reality technology!

That's said, there already exists a cheaper alternative to alter your reality!

I like to think that opportunity knocks so often it's like a drumroll on your door. We just have to be tuned to hear it.

I've been studying luck and how to attract Lady Luck into my life. I have a lot of lucky moments. I am so blessed.
I have a lot of opportunities. Sometimes it feels like too many, and I don't know how to make the time to focus on them, figure them out, etc. This is the skill of a successful entrepreneur, I think. I'm learning.

Perhaps I'm spread too thin, trying too many different things, but it's also the phase I'm in... business-wise.

I just got an email from someone who just finished TMF (French version) from the middle of the Atlantic on a sailboat. He sent me the coordinates of where he was through an Iridium satellite. How cool, he truly is in the middle of nowhere! Stuff like this truly fascinates me, as a child I never thought my words could get to eyes outside of my city, much less my own home. Now they're in the middle of the Atlantic.

That's really cool! The waters out there can be really wild as well. One of those islands up off the Western Sahara, further up on that map, is Tenerife, which is a huge destination for my favorite sport. I should get on things so that I'm able to go there myself:

Media and counter-media crap is tiresome. A bunch of wankers yelling back and forth at each other claiming that there is only one universal truth and their truth is the only truth. Meanwhile, there are many conflicting, concurrent truths, based on perspective.

I used to take allergy medication as I was completely stuffed, kept sneezing, and my eyes were so dry I couldn't stop rubbing them (and making it even worse). The drug worked but it was still a drug I had to take every day.

Now I take high doses of curcumin with piperine (at least 700 mg of curcumin with 9.5 mg of piperine or more if I have worse symptoms).

I still have some symptoms sometimes (depends on the place and what's currently producing pollen) but they're bearable compared to what it was before without medication.

Perhaps try adding curcumin with piperine and see if it helps.

Here's one article about it:

But don't take turmeric as it doesn't have enough curcumin. You need curcumin in high doses.

Last summer, I had ZERO allergy symptoms for the first time in my life (I'm severely allergic to tree and ragweed pollen) by taking cold showers and doing Wim Hof breathing.

I've always had bad allergies from May 'till September every year but always toughed it out without taking antihistamines (or like just once for the whole summer), so it was a very pleasant side effect. I had the same symptoms you do.

This is NOT placebo as I did not at all expect this kind of effect on me. Only after I noticed my allergies being 95% reduced did I research the link between cold showers and allergies.

This year, although I'm not as consistent with them at all (I average 1-2 cold showers a week), I'm still doing far better than I usually do. Gotta get in the zone.

He's just capturing a special moment that, if stored correctly, will not fade.. unlike his aging memory.

The idea isn't to wear this thing all day around your kids but to snap a few images or videos and then move on. Just as you would with a camera from the 90s or today's smartphones.

To me, it sounds like you're getting older and experiencing your first signs of reluctance/skepticism toward new things.

I get it, I'm 25, and yet I've never used TikTok and have been off most social media for the past 4 years. I feel "old" when everyone around me opens up their phones and goes all zombie on TikTok or Instagram Shorts or whatever.

Haha, I am old, it's true. I feel old in my thinking. Things that mattered to me when I was 25 mean nothing today and it's surprising to admit it.

That said, there is such a thing as addiction to being "connected". And more devices are making it easier to get addicted. I can imagine uses that are far outside what you describe for this device. A deadbeat dad spending his full paycheque to get the newest VR/AR gaming thing and escape his reality. Ignoring reality is seldom a good idea.

Funny again, I sound like an old man. Geezzz when did that happen? I bet I wouldn't be saying this in my 20s.

Yeah, it poses the same risks as computers and smartphones do. Basically, any device hooked up to the Internet can lead to the things you describe plus many more. I don't think the product itself is bad.

A friend of mine just sent me a TikTok about these goggles actually. It was an idea about using them to watch live F1 races onboard cameras, which you can already do on Sky Q and switch between whoever you want, but not in VR... yet.

Now that would be pretty damn cool.
