I wrote the post first in INSIDERS. But I think this actually is more appropriate for the common sections.

There is someone who posted elsewhere that he tried business for seven years and nothing works.

Part of business is trial and error throwing mud onto the wall and see what sticks.

But there is also a strong elements of white elephant in the room. We actually know what a “winner” looks like. The kind of products and services where customers say “shut up and take my money”.

Our fellow fastener James Jani made high quality documentaries that you know they will go viral even you don’t look at the stats.

If we don’t even intend or aim to make a product or services that can make customers scream “shut up and take my money”, we will inevitably fall into the harder path of wondering why there is no sales.

The best sales strategy is to create a product and services that sells itself.

Everything else are harder paths even if they could work.

Cognitively there is human bias to avoid the hard path and end up in harder path ironically.

Say for example we know the best path for wealth accumulation quickly is through business and entrepreneurship.

People do know the common axiom of truth that “You cannot get rich working for others”.

Because entrepreneurs has a notorious reputation of being hard, people avoid it and experiment with harder paths such FIRE.

Human tendency first works with logic, and find out that the best path is the hard path. And then because our wishful thinking wants to avoid the hard path, it fells into denial stage with hope and pray that there is a miracle elsewhere where it is not as hard.

The same for diet and nutrition as well. The law of thermodynamics dictates calories counting to be the most effective strategy. You have gurus who spins facts and figures to sell easier paths because they know most people refuse to accept a restrictive lifestyle.

The same is true for relationship as well. Everyone knows what an attractive man/ woman looks like and what qualities they possess. The kind of person who checks all the boxes with the opposite sex says :”Shut up and be my man/woman”. The idea of working towards that is so intimidating that we have a whole contemporary knowledge sold by guru who try to teach you how to have “text game” and “be in your frame” and do this pick up line and do that sheet…”Dont reply text immediately”. These are peasant tactics and we know it.

I am writing this due to some inspiration of recent events that happened around me. It just created a deeper awareness of the issue that I don’t think I fully even appreciate previously.

Most of us already know what REALLY works. We just need to accept that this is hard, a very hard path and surely not an easy one. Any wishful thinking or unacceptance will lead us to HARDER paths and more time/resources wasted.
Pure gold! Thank you.

Companies that have been saved all followed the same pattern:

1. Cut cost (fire people, cut advantages)
2. Sell the parts of the biz that dont do well.
3. Rebrand
4. Improve what you do well
I just read an amazing book about this called “corporate turnaround mastery” by I think Jeff sands.

I wrote a few thoughts on it in the what you are reading thread.

To add to your list:
Increase prices
Cut costs
Restructure debt
Get paid sooner
Pay bills later
Fire employees

It’s best to do this all in 1 big hit rather than slowly dribbling out changes.

Especially firing employees.

Facebook and all these companies are making this mistake right now.

They need to fire people but they’re doing it in rounds and dragging it out.

It’s killed team moral.

Better to do it in 1 hit and tell everyone who still has a job, look you have a job let’s turn this thing around.

From what I’m hearing it sounds like they haven’t even offered voluntary redundancies.

So now they have a bunch of people who aren’t sure if they’ll get fired in the next round or not, and a bunch of people hoping they will be, all showing up to work every day with horrible moral.

Guys, how do I cope with going back to the job?
I've failed, because I was selfish, and now it seems I have to go back to work

But my whole... identity is structured about being an entrepreneur.

My head hurts knowing that I will sell my soul to someone else, was lying in bed face down and felt like shit for more than an hour...

What do I do? I... I feel as if life is being sucked out of me.
18yo, had a job but was fired - as a programmer. Fired because I was a dumbass.

...

Sorry for the vent, but really? How do I deal with it?

The only way to lose weight is to starve yourself.

Every time I work on some weight loss with fasting some dip shit has to chime in with theories on “starvation mode” and “what you really have to do is eat more” nonsense.

I don’t understand why this idiocy is so prevalent.

To not be fat, you need to not have enough food to remain fat.

Sure you can burn some too, but again, you’re starving yourself.

I blame crap advice for why I took this long to finally take real and total control and I don’t hold back with people dishing it out anymore. If you think someone who wants to lose weight can do it without starving themselves, you are lying.

Controlled starvation is the only way.
Because telling truth doesn't sell, and accepting the fact means accepting hardship.

Most people want to believe there are ways to have the cake and eat it, and we have an industry of fad diets promoting what people want to hear.
Well, quite frankly you lose weight by eating *clean* and working out, and that'd work 100% of the time.
How to eat clean?
Well, protein, long-term carbs, difficult fats... Essentially, pasta, rice, mb potatoes, clean meat and fruits/oranges. That's what I've been eating for years, and I'm fit, and have a physique.

You're still young, brother. There is no shame to take a job temporarily while planning your next move as an entrepreneur.

Relax and make a good plan.

Then. execute. it. ruthlessly.

BTW, everyone is talking about "plans". What are they?

I have failed 5 businesses so far, and so far, there was not a single plan that worked. So I stopped making them, and focused on "driving the car instead of launching the rocket".

I am still young but the time is fleeting... fast....

Maybe you're not assessing what's not working and keep doing the same thing over and over and expecting different result? Try to analyze your mistakes and adjust accordingly.

Eating clean works because it is easier to accomplish calorie deficit than eating junk, which requires a lot more willpower to eat within the limit.

At the core, you need to create a calorie deficit, and for non-professional sports people, it means making the diet does the heavy lifting.

Energy balance is still the most important single issue in weight management.

I think different people react to the same content differently.

Ambitious people will envy the elite footballers for the money and fame and be amazed by their talent and insane work ethic.

Messi is already super successful and he is not much older than I am. Watching it too much will actually make me more depressed.

Always remember that the heart of an entrepreneur is to always solve problems, and to provide better results for others.

Even if you work in a job, you have to do these things too.

Of course, the entrepreneur has much more responsibilities, tools and systems to handle.

It IS possible even for entrepreneurs to sell their soul to the rat race...when they forget their duty to the
marketplace, and their own life's meaning and purpose.

There are days where I myself feel like I don't wanna get out of bed to face my copywriting clients., for a whole
host of reasons.

But I try to reframe it: I have work, when SO MANY others don't.

Even better, I have the type of work, or industry access, that NOT EVERYONE has.

And as such, it can teach me ideas that NOT EVERYONE sees from the outside.

Apply this thinking to any work you do...and that could be start of finding your competitive advantages.

Today I got destroyed by my hayfever. I have a thing in my room that cleans the air, I take medication and yet I woke up almost unable to breathe.

It could be something else but if this condition persists I will try some experimental therapy if necessary. I can survive a few days with suffering but I won't live the whole summer like this.

I used to take allergy medication as I was completely stuffed, kept sneezing, and my eyes were so dry I couldn't stop rubbing them (and making it even worse). The drug worked but it was still a drug I had to take every day.

Now I take high doses of curcumin with piperine (at least 700 mg of curcumin with 9.5 mg of piperine or more if I have worse symptoms).

I still have some symptoms sometimes (depends on the place and what's currently producing pollen) but they're bearable compared to what it was before without medication.

Perhaps try adding curcumin with piperine and see if it helps.

Here's one article about it:

But don't take turmeric as it doesn't have enough curcumin. You need curcumin in high doses.

I usually stretch once a day, usually when I wake up. But then I watched this video that explained what stretching does to your muscles and tendons. It said that stretching usually lasts about 30 minutes and it said that you only need to stretch about 30 seconds. So armed with this information, I started stretching once every 2 hours. I went from touching the floor with my fingers to touching with my palms in 2 weeks in the stretch below. That's about a 4" difference in 2 weeks!

Also, some knots I've had in my chest went away also. These knots I've been trying to massage out for months.

So now I'm a proponent of stretch often, but don't stretch too long. Seems obvious, but a bunch of 30 second stretches 5 times a day beats a longer stretch session once a day.

View attachment 49039

This has been helpful to stretch every few hours, thank you for sharing this. Where is the video you mentioned?

Quick tip for anyone that uses revolut. They give you the option to use disposable cards that delete themselves after the first use, they are fantastic if you want to try something on a free trial and not get charged in the future.

If anyone here rents, lives in a place with some tourism and wants a step up in lifestyle, keep an eye out for what I'll call "distressed airbnb'ers." You're gonna see a wave of them very soon.

My current spot is $1200/mo in a hot area that averages $2800+/mo for a comparable unit. No, rent has never been raised. I snagged it as a former ABNB in April 2020 just after covid crushed tourism.

My eyes are set on a place just out of town that's a magnitude improvement and 30% cheaper that...guess what...was originally an ABNB that the owners stopped wanting to manage, were overleveraged, can't sell favorably yet, or hit a market low.

Basically something went wrong in their math and your long term let has to cover their payment, or else.

To think it used to be called "couchsurfing" hahahaha

So if someone is "lucky" in business, it's not some occult phenomenon. They weren't blessed by the universe, or "set for life" by rich parents. They just started to understand the opportunities flowing around them at all hours, like a deluge.
I like to think that opportunity knocks so often it's like a drumroll on your door. We just have to be tuned to hear it.

They spend their day humiliating their own customers online.

Ryanair is Europe's biggest and most profitable airline.

I used to end up in the ER all the time from my asthma. I gave away the long-haired cat who slept on my bed all day. (One of my best friends got so upset over the cat, she stopped talking to me. Oh well. I wasn't ready to die over a cat.) Now I have a small humidifier on my desk that I put water and essential oil into during the day. I have a whirlpool tub at home that I also put essential oil into when I bathe. And I have an implant in my chest for my sleep apnea. It's sure better than emergency ER trips and using a rescue inhaler!
