I think that was a really poor and random AI. I've seen much better AI written content.

Not sure, that Random AI ended up sending me a bunch of emails complaining about this action, in the same nonsensical format, complete with a bunch of insults for me.

Received about 6 emails from this person (if it is a person) and when you decipher the random words in the word diarrhea, it is a bunch of threats and insults. Pretty sad considering I'm not the one who banned him/her.

In 2014, I documented my progress in making picture books for kids here on the forum.

My first books were simple and focused on teaching kids basic concepts in NLP.

Back then, I ordered a print of the first book I created, "The Monster Match."

B00K56F87Y.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_SX500_.jpg

Fast forward to 2022, and my daughter has me read that book to her almost nightly.

She loves the art and doing the activities (swinging her arms around, roaring, smiling at the monster, etc.).

Back then I didn't have a kid, but I was creating the books I'd want my child to have.

It's really cool to see the payoff so many years later.

What can go wrong for the future of society if teachers are so underpaid and undervalued they'd rather sell porn or work in Walmart?

Perhaps more private schools will open up as a result? Someone will attempt to solve the problem. Some already have.

Very few people reach a million on OnlyFans. Most don't get more than a few subscribers because they have no sense of internet marketing or perseverance.

There is a sub-cultural movement to normalize porn as a career. I don't think it's a viable career for most people. What's worse is I think many will face the harsh reality of their choices over the next 5-10 years and it's going to be painful.

I'm facing many of those harsh realities now, and wish I'd never got involved in that path.

Yep, I saw the new trend of starting small private schools for just a few kids. The teacher can make $100k working with just a few kids which I imagine has to be extremely rewarding and nice compared to the clusterfuck of public schools.

Good point, though I bet it won't deter other frustrated teachers from trying.

Unfortunately most people have to learn from their own mistakes.

Are teachers really underpaid? Many of them make a lot of money in my opinion, especially with summers off.

It seems to me that p0rn is just insanely lucrative.

Eek...sorry to hear that.

I think I know where you are coming from-- once your stuff hits the Internet, it never really goes away.

Underpaid if you rely solely on the job.
Lucrative if you teach outside classes, write books and train other teachers.

Depends heavily where you are. I see that you live in Malaysia. I am in the United States. Within the United States, teacher pay varies greatly as well - depending on the state you are in (Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, California, New York, etc.)

And then, it varies by school district (within Texas, are you in a 1A, 2A, 3A, up to 6A district) or public or private (private teachers actually make less than public usually in Texas).

Keep in mind these are almost entirely funded by local property taxes. More houses - especially big, expensive houses - means more taxes, and thus, more money being siphoned off to the school district. That's how it works down here. That's why my local school district just built a Taj Mahal $250 million high school.

The other part of the funding is from bonds, which is really interesting, as investors are basically getting paid with public money - great investment - tax free - anyway...

There are, of course, some teachers who get paid a ton of money. Illinois is the one that always comes to mind with the teachers' unions.

Yes, the $150,000 teacher and PE coach do exist.

And it's pretty insane.

Some of the dumbest people I grew up with ended up in the teaching profession. So yea, I'd say there are a ton getting paid more than they should. However, there are some really great ones who could probably due to get paid more.

Either way, you can't just show up to a job and follow the laid out path and expect to live the high life. If you are a great teacher why not spend some time looking for private gigs that pay more?

The only way to "fix" the inflation is through additional productivity. This can happen by adding labour or investment and development of technology that increases productivity. At the same time, let's have more national holidays and work less! Why not?! Then blame the inflation on literally anything else, other than its root cause.

Alternately, we could crush the useless unproductive waste from society to tame inflation.

We should be doing both. Tackle the demand and supply side.

But nobody wants to take responsibility for this harsh reality. I say get on with it. Rip the band-aid. Let there be hardship - enough with holding on to shit ideas just because otherwise it might hurt people's feelings.

If a CEO kept running the books into the grounds, at what point do the stakeholders in the company decide we need new leadership to sail the boat? Or do we let poor leadership sink the ship and cry as we go down a one-way path?

I taught in the public schools for 22+ years. I started at $27,000 and ended at $75,000 for a salary. That's not very good for someone with a Master's Degree (and beyond) who had worked for the same company for the final 20 of those years, even accounting for summers off.

In the same vein as the article above, I left teaching and make more just through sports and casino arbitrage. So yeah, I'd say good teachers are underpaid in general for the work they do.

Honestly, I don't understand what's wrong with something like this. I imagine your problem with this is because she is making her money on Onlyfans. If she had quit her job and started an ecommerce business, would this be a problem? Well maybe if she was selling farts in a jar via Shopify.

Remember Kurt Warner was bagging groceries at Hyvee before he became a hall of famer quarterback. He had more value to an NFL team than to a grocery chain, so he got paid more for it.

What this basically is is that her value to society is higher doing something else than being a teacher. If all teachers quit and decided to do something else, how many would succeed, how many would come back to teaching?

Both of my parents are teachers. They've been broke most of their life because their profession isn't valued at all.

I know firsthand how hard this job is.

I also know how big of an impact you can have on young people when you care about them. A great teacher can transform student's confidence and completely change their life direction (as opposed to a shitty teacher who can often ruin it by undermining their confidence).

Particularly my mom was very invested with some people with terrible life stories, including very young mothers and teenagers with several suicide attempts behind them. Some, out of gratitude, kept in touch with her over the years because she was the only teacher who cared (my mom is a perfectionist who doesn't give up on anyone).

I simply find it saddening that society rewards porn actors more than people who can literally save someone's life by being the only person believing in them and helping them overcome obstacles.

I disagree. I know the Fastlane logic of money = value, but a good teacher has a greater positive impact on society than someone on OnlyFans.

I was providing more value to society when I taught than I am now working on sports/casino arbitrage, but my income says the opposite.

I can't possibly like this enough. Kudos to your parents for the impact they have made.

I'm reminded of the Taylor Mali video, "What Teachers Make"

Majority of the people are "normal" so they want a reward without losing too much energy. It worked it the past so we can live today but now because of too "easy" life and technology it makes the porn actors rich.
People who sacrifice themself for business, sports, are just an evolutionary anomaly lol

Only market decide who provide more "value". The market value pleasure more than learning new things (human nature).

No! Sometimes there are value skews where the value provided is far greater (or less) than the income received.

Edit: To clarify, however, in general it's helpful to think of money and value as related -- in most cases, yes, there is a direct connection between the value you provide and the compensation you receive.

For 2020-21 there were about 3 million public school teachers and 500,000 private school teachers, for a grand total of about 3.5 million teachers.

That’s a lot of teachers.

I've seen a few articles like this pop up on entrepreneur.com and some of the lower quality news websites in the UK.

Are these onlyfans girls hiring a PR company to get them press exposure?

Hey guys question

I keep getting pulled into opportunities with different people and for some of them I don't feel extremely enthusiastic about them but I'm confused sometimes about if not taking these opportunities makes me ignorant or if it's actually just something I shouldn't be doing.

How do you know when to say no to these opportunities without feeling like you're "blowing it" for yourself and for the other person?
