To sit with complacency and satisfaction is to sit at your own funeral, long before you die.

"Fear steals thunder from the more noble drive to ascend to our highest selves and make our greatest difference. We are more alert to the sound of dogs barking than angels singing" -Brendon Burchard

Great quote from a pretty nifty book, "The Motivation Manifesto" If you need something to read its chock full of some pretty good info.

On Customer:

'A customer is the most important visitor on our premises. He is not dependent on us. We are dependent on him. He is not an interruption in our work. He is the purpose of it. He is not an outsider in our business. He is part of it. We are not doing him a favour by serving him. He is doing us a favour by giving us an opportunity to do so.'

Though it is famously attributed to M.K. Gandhi, other evidences also suggests that either Kenneth B. Elliot or Leon Leonwood Bean may have said it.

I think I just read "follow your passion" put in the best way possible, shedding light on Steve Jobs' famous speech.

From Tribe of Mentors (Tim Ferriss), interviewing Kevin Kelly from Wired:

Tim asks him, what advice would you give a smart, driven college student about to enter the "real world"?

Kevin says:

"Don't try to find your passion. Instead master some skill, interest, or knowledge that others find valuable. It almost doesn't matter what it is at the start. You don't have to love it, you just have to be the best at it. Once you master it, you'll be rewarded with new opportunities that will allow you to move away from tasks you dislike and toward those that you enjoy. If you continue to optimize your mastery, you'll eventually arrive at your passion."

The following is some of the timeless wisdom from the Old English poem Beowulf

"Beowulf, son of Ecgtheow, spoke:
'Wise sir, do not grieve. It is always better
To avenge dear ones than to indulge in mourning.
For every one of us, living in this world
Means waiting for our end. Let whoever can
Win glory before death. When a warrior is gone,
That will be his best and only bulwark.
So arise, my lord, and let us immediately
Set forth on the trail of this troll-dam.
I guarantee you: she will not get away,
Not to dens underground nor upland groves
Nor the ocean floor. She’ll have nowhere to flee to.
Endure your troubles today. Bear up
And be the man I expect you to be.'"

An economics professor and a student are walking down a pathway on a university campus. They walk past a $10 bill on the ground.

Student: Stop a second, I just saw a $10 bill. I'm gonna go pick it up.
Professor: Don't bother. There's no money there.
Student: How do you know?
Professor: Because if there were a $10 bill on the ground, someone would have already picked it up.
