This guy, Mitch Vexler, has been appearing on various YT doom channels and promoting the idea that the local governments are over-valuing homes by +30% in order to tax them more, and that people can (and should) protest these valuations using actual recent sales data. He says that because people never protest, and just try to pay the taxes, some are losing their homes. He also says if enough people protest, it will force the local and federal governments to reign in their budgets sooner rather than later. Is this guy being realistic, or is he dreaming? Or maybe he is right, but nothing will ever be done about it.
To protest, apparently you just need to get some local sales data as examples, make an appointment, and go down and argue your case. It doesn't sound as extreme as the stuff in the 80s where farmers just didn't pay their taxes, and sometimes went to jail, lost their farm, or died in a shoot-out. Or as silly as "declare yourself a church". Yet, I don't think I've ever seen a tax protest work out well for the protesters, since the late 1700s.
I was interested in this mostly because it sounded like if it was real, it could drive down home prices.
