I've been using Winsplit Revolution at home for a few years. I think it's discontinued now.

Here's a couple of window arrangement tips:
  1. Compare and contrast in a snap
    Windows logo key
    Xcn_4vR1C7S9Tx4U55DkQiHeTHbZks_JWSWFWKVd3uYblc7Tnitw24n2BA40snhKdyAEy72-Wm_9EuZ3NPT1iI2ejLi7pJYVxMHtW_4rJPGwBiLVEq_SCZjLqMxQGodnPRjZyIrzW9H2a73njDM-gGCjJkYHm7rttNe3x-A=s0-d-e1-ft
    +Left Arrow or Right Arrow
(Up Arrow and Down Arrow help too)

  2. Multitask with multiple monitors
    Windows logo key
    Xcn_4vR1C7S9Tx4U55DkQiHeTHbZks_JWSWFWKVd3uYblc7Tnitw24n2BA40snhKdyAEy72-Wm_9EuZ3NPT1iI2ejLi7pJYVxMHtW_4rJPGwBiLVEq_SCZjLqMxQGodnPRjZyIrzW9H2a73njDM-gGCjJkYHm7rttNe3x-A=s0-d-e1-ft
    +Shift+Right Arrow or Left Arrow

And this software seems awesome (I might even try it out as a replacement for Winsplit):

Productivity tip for windows users: Get a mac ;)
Haha. I thought someone would say that.

I've seen people trying to use Excel on a Mac... no thanks.

I do like that you can drop into a *NIX prompt and run some *NIX commands, but that's not enough to make me switch.

I only have one monitor but it's pretty big and I can't fit it on my desk, my computer is humongous and takes up half of my desk space.

No microsoft office= useless :(

Would love to run a mac os on my laptop,as secondary OS for quicker website maintainance and all, but sadly it doesn't work with AMD processors :( and I need windows anyways to run microsoft office. as MS Word is the only viable tekst editor to write books and other things that I produce.

Have you actually looked into it?

View attachment 9426

I am on a mac and run office just fine
really? I actually asked at the shop and several friends that have a MacBook pro and they all said that there are similar products/replacement products but not the actual Microsoft office with the exact same settings/options.
(For me it's extremely important that if I use it on a mac that the layout and back-end settings are EXACTLY the same.
So far, no program or replacement actually does that.)

I believe you can get the actual Microsoft Office for the mac.

Except when I watched someone using Excel on a mac, the menus were different, and I swear some of the options I use were just missing. Non starter for me.

Maybe Word would be close enough.

@Andy Black I've been on the forum for a little less than a year and I'm always surprised with how much value you consistently bring to the forum! I just wanted to take a moment to say thanks!

You can download the Office for Mac 2016 preview for free here: http://products.office.com/en-GB/mac/mac-preview

It's a much needed update, and has worked perfectly for me so far!

Windows key + E (open My Computer)
Windows key + D (hide every window and return to desktop, use the shortcut again to restore all windows)

That's what I use the most. You could also download Vimperator if you use Firefox if you're really hardcore about these productivity hacks.

There as ALWAYS has been office for Mac.. just not MS office...

openoffice is completely free and even better than MSoffice

http://www.openoffice.org/porting/mac/

now go buy a mac
"Better" is very relative.
If you mean free = better than sure. and it delivers quite well for a free program,

However...

It lacks several advanced options that you need if you work together with a traditional publisher.
As well that converting with openoffice to other formats you will have to do your layout again. while with MS word you do not, as that's the program everything in the industry is based on.
