Got a bunch of galangal from the garden today (type of ginger used in Thai and other SE Asian cooking). Similar amounts of lemongrass yesterday. Been replanting herbs, lemongrass, gingers, etc. Spring is in the air ;)

I've been working on a few things at the new house while on lock down -

Painted and installed decorative wall board in the currently baking babies' room
Built a new bed frame
Built and painted raised garden beds
And then will be laying pavers around the fire pit and building a pergola

My youngest has spent at least 2 hours a day on a gymnastics mat, and she will come out of this stronger and more body control than ever. Super strong, and great way for her to advance.

Also, eCommerce is going to come RACING out the backside of the worldwide shutdown. Expect there to be an even more rapid convergence to online shopping (previously still only 10%+ of total consumer sales) and continued development of delivery services and other economic impact changes. Things will NEVER go back to the way they were. Opportunities await the swift.

Hoping for sooner than later! Amazon sales, Walmart sales, down 40-50% compared to last year...

So my wife wanted to relieve her boredom and give me a fright. If you look at the top shelf of my bookcase you will see something familiar.
Here's a nicer one from walking the dog earlier although the black swans have disappeared from the lake, hope it's an omen;)

Puzzle time isolation style.

@JAJT the Bone Owl lives on!
Awesome!

It really burns me that I had to shutter the company before it really even got started.

I just purely underestimated the funds needed / my skill / the time (or all 3) that it would take to get it running properly. Didn't help that just about every assumption I made was wrong (but hell, at least I tried!).

If I could start it all again, I believe I could have made it very successful. I'm simply in no financial position to do so. I'd have sold the business rather than close it, but I assume it's fairly hard to sell something with negative profits :p

What's cool is that my puzzle business has inspired, literally, at least 5-6 other puzzle companies. I had multiple people reaching out, talking about the puzzle companies they've started, wanting to learn more about what I did right, why it didn't work out, what I thought of their new businesses, etc...

Maybe one day when I'm back above the water I'll start it back up again. I have a list half a mile long of how I could have done it better and more successfully. Maybe by then I'll be directly competing with some of the companies I helped inspire :)

After balancing my laptop on books for the last two weeks,

I finally gave in and lugged my desk and monitors home from the office. This standing desk weighs about 50lbs!

Side note: the "Humanscale" standing desk has been great! 5/5. Would recommend.

One of the many "closed" fishing piers on Tampa Bay. This one was at one of the county parks. Ironically, fishing is one of the essential activities, but apparently that doesn't mean a fishing pier is. However, even though this picture looks overcast it was an awesome day with many people starting to re-emerge from their hibernation.

Here is the view from my basement office. All your pictures are making me really hate living where I live.
Blue skies and crisp cool air? Perfect.

Quarantine adventures...

Imagine waking up at 0:55 and seeing this right in front of your property:

32123

The fire was skilfully handled by firefighters and nobody was harmed but it was mere feet from entering the yard (thankfully blocked by a stone wall, and the firefighters redirected the fire, too).

Then at 7:55 in the morning you see a wooden utility pole toppling over (it somehow burned through the night) and you lose power for 7 hours while stuck at home with supermarkets closed and little food in the fridge (and being forced to eat perishable food before it spoils). What next? Maybe a hurricane during a pandemic? Lol.
