I want to do direct response marketing to see results with a restaurant.

Is there a way to measure how many people visit a store after visiting a website?

With Google Ads, you can do this with advertisements, but I read for tracking with a website, you need a large company: "Store visit reports are only available to advertisers that have multiple physical store locations in eligible countries that generate a large number of website visits and store-visit traffic."

The restaurant isn't really big enough to have an in store counter either.

Just wondering how other people do this.

Hey Spirit!

I think you're talking about a physical restaurant, and not an online store for shipped goods. Right? If so, give a coupon that needs to be redeemed, or offer a freebie if they sign up on an email sheet when they come in. It won't give you the total but at least it will give you something.

Some options for measuring how many restaurant visitors came from the website:
  • Coupon codes as already mentioned.
  • Different phone number which shows only on the website.
  • Making table reservations (or orders etc.) through the website.
You could further setup each of these options, to see how visitors got to your website, or measure revenue as well.
Then you could e.g.optimise and spend your marketing budget where it brings the highest ROI first.
