I thought why is there not a local mastermind group on whatsapp here in London?
So I just decided to create one!

I'd like to invite serious entrepreneurs from London to a whatsapp group I've created called "London Fastlane" for daily discussions and networking opportunities.

Let me know if you want to be invited.

If you change it to a UK fastlane group, I'll join. I enjoy WhatsApp groups

That's actually a good idea, I'll change it.
PM me your phone number.

Yeah, it's really accessible with whatsapp so think this will be a success.

Is it UK only? I’m from The Netherlands! We use Whatsapp as well ;).

I don't understand why it's limited just to the UK, I would love it if people of all countries were allowed to join (even though I live in the UK). I would love a diverse TheFastlane WhatsApp Chat

You could have both.

The benefits of the local whats app group are that you can discuss the local economy/business market. And arrange meets up etc much easier

That was my thought too.

To be honest, my initial thought was why would you take people away from the forum into a somewhat private and isolated whatsapp group, sounds like a plug for someone to sell their service or product.

It’s not necessarily a plug to sell something. I understand why folks would find kindred spirits and have small masterminds. That’s one of (THE?) benefits of the forum - finding a small mastermind of people you can talk to and who support each other. Don’t underestimate how important it is to not be alone on this entrepreneurial journey.

However, why not consider whether you’re taking conversations off the forum that could very well be on the forum?

If you’re getting value here then try to keep as much of your conversations here? You never know who else might pop in with advice in your conversations, and what other relationships and value you’d gain from keeping the conversations in here.

If you’re organizing a meetup and trying to work out which pub you’re going to next on your pub crawl then yeah, it makes sense to take that offline and not spam TFLF.

Does that make sense?

I do understand that. Admittedly, I was just being very cynical, even though I imagined the intent behind it was/is a good one.

I can see the benefits are just a bit different to the TFLF:
1) Don't have to start a new Forum topic (and select a specific area) each time you want a quick opinion (pro & con).
2) Mixes into the same Notifications you get on your device (pro & con).
3) Loads MUCH quicker because of less ads.
4) (This might just be my device) - but the UX is horrible navigating TFLF on my mobile due to the template and ads. It would be AMAZING if there was a native app for Android. For me, TFLF is almost unusable on mobile which is a massive shame.
5) There's still a space for local, smaller communities in this world that provide a more intimate sense of belonging. I don't think it replaces anything, just compliments it.

I don't know because I'm not a member of a Whatsapp/Telgram group of this sort but I'd be interested to try. I don't think it will be any competition to TFLF because clearly there's wider expertise on here, but it might fill a small hole that some people are feeling?

Just checked... looks like it's not just a poor mobile experience for me...

I mostly browse and reply to forum posts on my mobile, and a small iPhone 5SE at that. I find it easy enough, and I'm older than most in here.

I noticed the people saying they're interested don't engage much in the forum. My suggestion would be to engage more in the forum and you'll naturally start finding folks you message in here a lot. Then you might take it to Facebook messenger or Whatsapp, or whatever. I think that would work out better for people than asking people in here to jump onto another platform to engage there?

yeah, that would probably make a lot of sense. Is there a way of making 'breakout rooms' or 'Group Chats' on this platform?

Sure you could do group messages, but I think you'll find it better to engage in the threads here.

Read something you like or find helpful? Like it and reply saying thanks and why it helped you.

See someone struggling? Offer advice or even just support and encouragement.

Help people. Support people. Watch what happens.

Even better is to do it in a community where others see you helping people and supporting people.

Who is LHXS? What are your values? What problems do you specialise in solving? What problems will other people tag you for your advice in a thread? These will come to the surface if you engage.

Hope that helps!

Throwing in my two CENTS here lol

I'd also love to see a "Group Chat" room for various topics. Right now I'm trying to keep track of just two networks.. App developers and Fastlaners from Ireland... and to be honest I'm struggling. I can watch threads and as an INSIDERS I can bookmark threads but its not effective.

Def. would like to keep it within the forum though.... though a Whasapp group could be useful for people living in a similar area to coordinate meetups and local specific info....

:peace:

Create threads for them.
"Fastlaners from Ireland"
"App developers"
It's not rocket science, or indie app development for that matter.

And watch them disappear after a day... where no-one can find them. No that’s not a solution.

There does seem to a grouping area under the main thread feed. Eg Web Design as a hustle.
An App Design as a hustle section would be ideal. I can use the Meetups grouping for Fastlaners from Ireland. That would work!
