Hello! To anyone who's reading this post, my name is Farrel Hakim.
I'm 16 and as you may have guessed, still in high school (based in New York). I'm currently reading Unscripted and How to Win Friends and Influence People -- always trying to stay ahead of my fellow peers. I'd like to think myself as mature, but hey, I'm 16.. I slip up at times.
I found out about this forum-site through a friend of mine who have read and reccomended Unscripted and Millionaire Fastlane to me (I chose to read unscripted first for no apparent reason) a couple of months ago and I've been searching for value and happiness ever since. Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of entrepreneurship is all I'm about these days because of the books I've started to read. Although, you may be concerned and ask yourself, "If this boy found the forum months ago, why did he only recently post?" Simple answer is... I was afraid. I had fear of judgement, but now I want the real truth. I want to start making mistakes now so I can be financially free in the future. I want to start now.
I guess my first question to people who are successful and have used this medium to give and take information is: How do I get started? I want to start making money, so what do I do?
I'm very eager to come out of my comfort zone, I want to push myself further and I want to feel, look, and BE successful. Success to me is more than money, more than what people perceive me as in school or in the vast world. Rather, success to me is happiness --- continuous happiness. I want to be free, liberated from the confines of normal scripted lifestyles and social normalcies. I want to be me-- to be unique and to be powerful as myself. I want to (this might be very insignificant to you) actually BE BUSY instead of pretending and making girls think I'm busy.
Some things about me: My TRUE passion is to help others. I love the little tingly feelings it induces and the smiles on their faces, or even the results they get. One of the mediums I use to help others is fitness (another huge passion of mine), I'm not "big" myself and I'm still not content as to my shape and my results, but I'm getting there. I usually help my friends out by giving them advice I've researched and experienced since I'm not a certified expert, I look to other experts as a gateway to my own results and regurgitate information in digestible bites for others to understand. This was my main attraction of my week, banging it out at the gym and helping out my friends.
But it was consuming my (family's) financial situation (my family and I being low-middle class) and also my individual time since I wasn't earning money. I couldn't start charging them because I can't force them to pay me--- Im their friend, I tried it for only $10 a month which is super cheap, but no one was willing to pay. So how do I start a business venture, small at first, and especially with the smallest amount of expenses possible?
Lastly -- as I've said before, I want to become an entrepreneur and I know that going to college is against the unscripted way, but my parents would like me to unless I show them I can make money without it. I'm extremely eager to learn and listen, most importantly, act, how and where do I find a mentor? What should I look out for as to the dangers of scams and paid mentoring? (like someone agrees to give me their knowledge 1 on 1 for a fee?)
Thank you for your most valuable time. All advice are welcome.
