Would you like to boost your sales by learning how to provide value for FREE without giving away samples of your product/service?

Our perceptions regarding the concept of ‘’value’’ have changed radically…

In the old days, the western aristocrats defined value as something you can extract from the land…

In fact - if you had bought wool from a sheep farmer, turned it into a hat and then sold it for a mark-up…

You’d be considered an exploiter.

Of course, our perception of value has evolved…

But it hasn’t matured into a crystal clear one either…

You’ve already heard that you should give value for free before you get something back…

Maybe you’ve even heard that you shouldn’t:
NOTABLE! - Unpopular Opinion: "Give Value for Free" is Bullshit More Often Than Not

Here is a quote from the post I linked above:

‘’ Create a valuable product or service. Employ a multitude of tactics to get traction. More likely than not, giving value away for free is bad for your business.’’

Now as it appears to me the author of this post defines value as a ‘’ service or product’’. (@AgainstAllOdds correct me if I am wrong)

I’m not quoting the author to counter his point.

I am quoting him to illustrate the way we often tend to define value.

We’ve evolved from the perception that land and everything directly derived from it is a form of value.

Now the concept of value is mostly associated with products and services...

So things like empathy, understanding, caring, attention, good emotions, and all that irrational hippy $hit can’t have much to do with increasing your sales right?

Or maybe it can…

Maybe it’s something we can’t get enough off.

Maybe it's another form of value...

Is there ever such a thing as enough love?

Here is a list of valuable stuff which I've given away for free to extract more ca$h from my client’s…

Empathy (feeling understood).

Show your prospects that you understand where they are coming from. They are tired of the ignorant pricks, who just want them to buy stuff. They are tired of the fake salesman, who has no idea how it feels to be scared, alone, confused and overworked (or whatever your prospects may feel).

Although we resist being vulnerable we crave human connection…which is possible only if we can relate to the other person. Empathizing with your prospect builds trust and makes them feel good – and thus provides value.

This world has become so cold, that we are STARVING for empathy! Can’t you feel it? Why not give the market what it wants?

Caring and proactivity

Be proactive whenever you engage your prospect.

How can you demonstrate that you give a fudge?

You can give away some common sense tips, and tailor them to their specific case. Or give them a list of potential solutions (hint: make your preferred solution look like the best one… duh)

If you don’t actually care at least make it look like you are an ‘’objective helper’’… someone who isn’t trying to force their product down their throat, but instead is happy to showcase various options.

This might be easier in one-on-one sales. But I believe you can fine-tune your marketing to show that you care.

Good Emotions (entertainment + validation)
This is the ultimate and overarching form of value.

Why is entertainment a gazzilion dollar industry?

And why do people pay for drugs if they are harmful?

They generate good emotions.

Become a drug (or a movie). Make your prospects feel good. Validate their egos. Encourage them. Crack jokes if necessary. Surprise them. Make them feel good by showing that you understand them and that you care about them.

To some of the more seasoned members of this forum these will seem like common-sense ways to skew value.

But to someone like me a year or two ago this would seem silly…

I just didn’t realize that people aren’t cold-hearted rational capitalists…

We are just a bunch of grown-up kids who are looking for someone we can trust…even if we know that we probably shouldn’t.

Now I haven’t made it yet, but I am able to generate sufficient income online by working for like a 7 days a month.

But somehow, becoming more human and providing my ''humanness'' as a form of value for free has enabled me to make more money…

If you’re just starting out and can’t figure out how to differentiate yourself from your competitors, how to get more clients or how to turn them into returning buyers please don’t think that you must provide your service or product for free. It is just one form of value.

But you should ALWAYS provide tons of value in terms of making your prospect feel like they are interacting with a service/product provider, who actually cares about them.
