Hi,

Together with 2 other co-founders I'm running a business in the leisure industry. Our season starts in April and ends in October and we are just about to start our 4th season. So far businesswise everything is going pretty well. Everyone has 33 percent of the shares and we are all paid equally.

Our cash position is putting some stress on our situation since we have been reinvesting almost all our profits over the last 3 years. We are also looking to expand our business with some new opportunities that arose.

Our turnover has tripled in 3 years but our decision making process hasn't moved along with it. We are still making decisions like we used to in the beginning (not in formal meetings with signatures). Something that has to change because one of the co-founders (Nr 1) likes to spend money on rather useless stuff and because he's launching new ideas every week without one of us knowing about it.

Before starting this thread I believed that making changes in our decision making process would solve all the problems between the 3 co-founders but yesterday, after discussing this with Nr 1, I realized that our problems are far more serious.

There's not only a lack in confidence between nr 1 and nr 2 (because of things that happened in the past) but I also realised that there is a conflict of vision between on one side nr 2 and me, and on the other side nr 1.. Nr 1 would like to grow and expand the business as fast as possible, while me and nr 2 would like to stay small at the moment and focus on operational improvements. Also the risk appetite of nr 1 is much bigger than ours, sometimes I find it even scary.

Because of the dominant character of nr 1 and his pressure on us to follow his vision, me and nr 2 were both thinking (without knowing about each other) about quitting. But we both don't want to leave our booming business after investing so much time (while earning almost nothing) and because our visions are more aligned and we still own 66 percent of the company

What would you recommend as a solution to this problem? Should we hire someone who can help us with this?
