HELP! Please report SCAMMER on IG impersonating me...

Despite 100s of REPORTs, Instagram has done F*cking nothing. And of course, I'd have better luck contacting GOD or the Virgin Mary than someone at Facebook or IG.

Thanks, blocking does nothing but remove the account for you. It remains LIVE for everyone else, and meanwhile, someone is going to suffer a financial catastrophe, and blame me in the process. SMH.

I would think you would qualify, being a published author is usually enough. Having accounts impersonating you generally makes it more likely they'll verify you. I would try applying again if you haven't done so recently.

I think I've reported that account tens of times at this point. Instagram is a joke platform, hopefully WEB 3.0 won't allow this shit to happen.

But considering the fact that deep fake software is getting better by the day, I shudder to think of the kind of scams that are about to emerge (and the many gullible people that will fall prey to them). The dude impersonating you could theoretically take your face and voice from a few interviews or videos you have up and create scam videos with "you" doing the scamming.

So this is probably a bit of a gray kind of an idea but well...

What if you found the shadiest possible seller of Instagram followers and ordered like 200,000 followers from him to follow your impersonator? This shouldn't cost much given it'll all be random bots. Maybe even order some fake comments to make this even more obvious.

Maybe this will cause IG to delete his account as it will most likely trigger some kind of a review system for trying to game the algorithm.

Don't hate the player, hate the game.

1. The fact that IG allow this shit show to happen really shows what kind of company they are and how much they value their customers.

2. Celebrities and influential people will always be used by scammers. There is no way to stop this on the internet. Remember when Elon Musk or Bill Gates were asking for your crypto so they can double it for you?

3. Even after this account will be taken down, the root issue won't be solved. If someone would have been stupid enough to fall for this scam, rest assured that he or she will soon find another scam to fall into.


It's very nice of you that you try to stop this, because it really is unacceptable.
But the main and only bad actors here are the scammers themselves and IG, which enable the scammers to run this operation - both should be held accountable for their actions, or lack thereof.

My guess is part of the problem is “legit” accounts get “hater” reported from time to time.

So when someone gets 15k followers regardless Instagram views it as credibility somehow.

There's account ban services on some social media forums I'm on. Uses a bot to spam reports and the account ends up being banned or uses a Facebook's Employee Influence to do it. I'll see how much it costs for that account. He'll likely just make another impersonation account though. I'll try to get this done for you. Anything to provide value back to MJ.

When applying to get verified just send them screenshots of any of your books as a bestseller on amazon/ other platform. It works every single time.
