Her story was very interesting. I suggest people read Bad Blood.

She, like Bernie Madoff, had what it took to build a great company… She just didn’t apply that leadership to something legitimate.

I voted Convicted, with a slap on wrist. She’s a woke, Clinton connected, leftie. Those types never get in real trouble.

I read Bad Blood and it was an excellent book.
Now she’s pregnant… so she’ll likely go free. Slap on the wrist. Thanks for the poll!

I read the book - Bad Blood. Really enjoyed it, amazingly well written. Makes you angry.

Hyping your product to get funding while concealing your true progress and hoping that reality will eventually catch up to the hype continues to be tolerated in the tech industry.

General Mattis praised her...
Mattis went out of his way to praise her integrity. “She has probably one of the most mature and well-honed sense of ethics—personal ethics, managerial ethics, business ethics, medical ethics that I’ve ever heard articulated,” the retired general gushed.

Let's see what actually happens to her. I stand by my vote - not much. She'll get a slap on the wrist.

- are you freakin' kidding me? The girl is a crook and a liar, lol. Treat her equally under the law, like anybody else.

I voted she will get a slap on the wrist because I'm a realist, but she ought to get a lot more than that.

Sounds as if she was diagnosed with cancer and now we await the test results after several rounds of chemo, not someone who committed one of the worst frauds since Madoff.

Expect wrist slappage and a lot of mental gymnastics for the admonishment.

I do not think there will be a good ending. When you run such a big scam and your victims are rich and powerful people, there is usually no good ending.

Remember Madoff turned himself in because high security prison is the safest place. He took all the blame and claimed he did it all alone, that doesn’t prevent his two sons being “suicided.”

But if we notice, all the so-called successful startups are actually OLD.

[...]

Apple and Microsoft? Big computers downsized into homely-sized PCs and tablets. The best technology needs to be smaller, not bigger.
Theranos is also a good old lab for blood tests that should be downsized into small devices.

True, but those same people don't want her be the new face of corporate malfeasance, replacing Madoff.

Is there a link?

Thanks - I thought maybe they would have a live link like in the Kyle case but it doesn't look like it.

Still, thanks for the link - will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Slap on wrist because tall non-ugly white woman

Good thing there are not any other pseudo-genius pretend-inventors whose terrible businesses are backed by billions in taxpayer dollars while they run pump and dump schemes. The government has definitely learned their lesson and does not endorse such individuals, and they would definitely not be media darlings beloved by zoomers as a messianic Tony Stark figure.

Definitely

Deliberations continue... more likely there will be zero repercussions, and upon her release, she will be a Silicon Valley darling who will make a career in public speaking.

Did she actually believe it would eventually work with enough funding or was she just enjoying the ride?
I believe she thought they would figure it out.

If you guys haven’t read “bad blood,” it’s a really good book. The HBO documentary sucked though.

Putting aside that she was a giant liar. It shows how inspiring others can help you build something great. Just be honest instead. Even if she got 1/10 as large on honesty, we would probably still know her name.

Most of the current startup "success stories" with high amount of raised capital are equal fraudsters. They just haven't been caught yet.
I guess it all comes down to the foundational reasons to be optimistic.

If they’re selling total BS to the investors, that’s one thing. If they’re straightforward about the struggles they are working through, I don’t see a problem. Not an investment for me, but… One man’s trash…

The federal jury convicted 37-year-old Holmes on four of 11 charges—three counts of wire fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. They found Holmes not guilty of four counts tied to patients and lying in paid advertisements. The jury was unable to reach a verdict on three counts tied to defrauding individual investors.

Holmes faces up to 20 years in prison on each count as well as a fine of $250K plus restitution for each charge. Read more about the four-month-long case here.

20 years each count possible, for a total 80 years... My guess is she gets 80 hours of community service.
