I created an AI generator for a WordPress page builder. Essentially, you prompt it, and you're returned a simple JSON file which you can upload to the page builder, and a layout is created.
You might say, "Generate a simple marketing page with 5 sections" etc. and it will give you the full JSON for that. Afterwards, you can edit each individual element and section.
Today I was working on the idea. Truthfully, I felt a bit of dismay. I was working on a small pivot, to accompany the AI builder, and create some plugins that extend the overall functionality of the page builder - things that I would like to see.
I happened to take a look at the business email and Stripe.
- One form submission asking why they were recommended my product in ChatGPT and asking for more info about the product
- Two payments completed in Stripe. One for the full year and one monthly subscription. $70. Cha-ching! idea validation has been confirmed. No marketing at all...
- 17 email signups
Now comes the very first problem: the accounts were never auto-created on the app. So these people haven't even been able to use it. However, it worked fine for me when I originally made it and tested it. Now it's time to diagnose the problems. They never sent me emails or anything.
Next steps:
- I have an mxroute unlimited account - basically I think it was a $100 fee for unlimited. It's perfect for testing ideas like this, but now I have customers and I'm confident I can get more. I'm making the change to Google Workspace, as mxroute also doesn't allow bulk emailing
- Fix account validation, reach out to these customers
- Reacquaint myself with this as I truthfully don't even remember how it works, there's a fair bit of moving parts as this is a fully functioning SaaS on WordPress
