Today I had an epiphany. Entrepreneurship == self-development. As I grow so does my business grow along. So if I don't grow, my business will stagnate…
MJ writes about this. I've read it recently in a re-run and thought yeah so true. But today it hit on a deeper note. I've built most of my identity around the Unscripted lifestyle, but knowing it and feeling it are two different things.
Everything clicks. All my past experiences built the base for this. Every growth spurt shows me more potential. The vision of what it can become (life-changing machine), feels like being in love. Full CENTS, worth every ounce of creative energy. It demands my best.
So why this epiphany:
Today a lead that we are onboarding into the platform reached out with product feedback. He told me he used to work in IT (now sells his passion online and uses our software). He had strong opinions about how we should change certain parts of the product.
My first instinct was defense. "How dare he tell me whats best. It's my baby". Then I realized its not my product anymore. I manage / curate it, but ownership lies in the market using it. I own the business. Perfect division if you ask me.
So I shut up. Thanked him and gave him credits for causing a creative discussion about his topics for potential product improvement.
Will we implement it? Maybe not. But he felt heard. That's worth more than being right.
A few years ago I would have argued. Defended. Needed to be right. Probably lost the customer. Today I didn't. +1 skill point.
