Last Friday, my finace and I met with the guy who designed her engagement ring so we could pick out our wedding rings!! We looked at several options and my fiance fell in love with one of the rings. He gave us a price for both rings we had selected and I paid him 50% of the cost. I told him I would pay him the rest in 6 weeks when the rings were done being created and designed. (I figured I need some leverage in case something went wrong...)
I got a voicemail from him yesterday (Monday) and he said he made a mistake and misquoted the price of my fiance's ring. He said he gave us the price for the ring with half the diamonds, instead of diamonds all around the band like we picked out. He said the ring we wanted is actually $900 more than he told us.
What should I do? I've already called my attorney and I'm waiting to hear back to see if there are any legalities I need to be aware of (this is California after all...)
I was planning to call the ring guy and tell him while I understand he may have made an honest mistake, with all due respect it's his problem, not mine.
WHAT WOULD YOU DO IN MY SITUATION? My concern in being too hard on him is that he will design a shitty ring or do something crappy...
Note: He came highly recommended and I have friends, collegues who have used his services.
