We have raised over $5,000 for this special kid and his family. So THANK YOU all that have been a part of the calls and for the kind remarks.

As someone mentioned to me yesterday, my post for more available spots is getting lost in the middle of the thread, so to get the word out to the people who have missed it, I have created a new thread here. Hope this is ok with the mods and MJ.

If you've not seen the other thread, Please check it out at the link below, The first post, will explain what the call is about. There are also roughly 35 reviews of the calls I have done after. Plus I have been mentioned in at least 5 other threads on how I have helped some of the callers with their journey.

https://www.thefastlaneforum.com/co...ck-edwards-and-help-a-kid-who-is-dying.51260/

If You are interested in having a call with me, I have added more spots to my schedule, not many though, I really enjoy doing the calls so if you are interested please PM me for time spots available.

Please include your location if you are outside of the U.S. so I can give you some available times accordingly.

Thanks A Million.

Jack

I want to thank everyone who has helped. At this time I will NOT be adding any further calls.

If I owe you a call please Pm me. Or email me. And if we have a call scheduled I have you down. Thanks.

Here is an update. Kid is not doing well at all. If I got a call today I would not be surprised. I have donated every penny to this very needy family. I will post the obit.

Some times, opportunities present themselves to make a difference in the lives of people that are way bigger than us. This was one of those chances. My thoughts are with him and his family throughout this unimaginable time.

I did one without any immediate need. Great investment.
Perspective, mrs jon and I attended the last two beer and pancakes not for the daily activities but for the evenings.
Cost about $1200 each time.
Reward priceless time with Dave, Dale, Russ, Allen, Boris, Steve, and many others who's first names most wouldn't recognize.

Do this. Help a kid out. Make a quality friend.

Got off the phone with @JackEdwards yesterday afternoon and like I told him, it really had my head spinning. As others have mentioned, very nice guy, very knowledgeable, wants to help other people, and very confident [perhaps the underdog trait we don't think about].

He's very open about sharing his advice and expertise. I sent him a good chunk of text about my background and he immediately was able to pick up on mindset issues, where my priorities were & more.

I had shared with him my idea (along the lines of my post here https://www.thefastlaneforum.com/co...ovate-the-same-old-shopping-experience.51821/) that I was working on and he immediately found 99 problems and more with why it would be the biggest headache plus cost WAYY more than I thought; so I'm starting fresh with new ideas! He also told me the pitfalls of many trying to get into e-commerce including many people on this forum who do it and the dangers it can bring.

I'll share one of the many takeaways I had since @MTF was a tease :). My idea above is in a very competitive space and is very much what many people are thinking about themselves. For example, Jack said most (not all) people trying to start companies are between 20-35 and are thinking about things 20-35 year olds want [new apps, software etc.]. Most 50+ year olds aren't looking to get into business but looking for ways to make their lives easier. No 20-35 year is trying to make products for them, thus a huge blue ocean.

As also mentioned by Jack on the forum, find old industries and find places where they are needed or need a bit of tweaking. Forget thinking about the next cool app or the cheap widget you found on alibaba that you want to sell on Amazon, why? Because there's already a TON of other people looking to do that and at some point someone will cut your legs out from under you with a lower price.

Also, as an example of Jack thinking big, You can't sell an Amazon business for millions. You could make 1MM a month off Amazon, but you'll always be at risk of being undercut.

That's just 1 of a dozen gems I got out of my call, what gems will you get from your call? You can literally ask Jack anything, you can challenge his thoughts and ideas, anything you want! And he will have an answer!

I highly recommend this!

how to validate your idea and make sure your business is going to work (simple stuff most people skip or have no idea about)
how to sell your idea over the phone (such a simple idea that makes so much sense, yet I've never thought about it)
how to dominate the market you want to enter (and why your business should NEVER be about just one product or service)
the surprising truth about hiring and managing salespeople
how to find out if your salesperson sucks
what makes a great salesperson (and no, it's NOT about the gift of gab)
how to do telemarketing the right way (make sure you focus on the right metrics)
your role in the business an an entrepreneur (it's NOT about managing)
how to delegate the right way (if you don't do it the right way, your business will own you instead of you owning your business)
how much should you pay your employees
how to make your employees stick with you for life
a simple question that will help you avoid getting into the wrong business (if you get into the wrong business, you'll just create a job for yourself)
the biggest mistake Jack did when he was a young entrepreneur (and why it cost him millions)
most important things Jack would say to a 20-something entrepreneur (and one thing you should do on a daily basis as a business owner)
...and much more

And no, sorry, I won't share specific lessons with you.

Why would you reel me in like this and take the time to list out all of the amazing things you learned then say no you won't share any lessons?

Just had my call with Jack.

Best. Thing. Ever.

I'm still a bit overwhelmed from the call because it was so damn good.

It was like a rapid-fire of just amazing advice left and right. You think he's gonna hit you with a few gems...but no...he brings out a machine gun.

I stayed silent for a majority of the call because I was honestly speechless for most of the time, except for the occasional "wow" (Jack, I promise I wasn't bored!)

Like other members have said, I have a clearer vision of what I have to do from now on coming out of this. Jack pulled the full Geico and saved me at least 15% or more of my time and energy that I would've wasted on useless and inefficient methods.

Thanks again Jack!

Talking to Jack allowed me to ask myself questions that I otherwise wouldn't have at this point.
Jack put into perspective the mentality of the young entrepreneur that holds some of us back from all the other
wonderful opportunities outside of whats 'cool'.

A few gems:

  • Treat your ideas as if you're going to school, if you don't learn it you pay for it.
  • Look at all sides of the business, not just the obvious.
  • There is opportunity in everything.
  • Its the little things that cost an entrepreneur money.
  • Long money makes all the money.
  • If you think of it, think the exact opposite of it.
  • Figuring out why your idea won't work rather than why it will work.
  • Don't rush it, learn it.

Since our talk yesterday i've taken action towards validating a business
we discussed briefly.

Thank you Jack for your honest and open advice.

Just got off the phone with Jack. It gave me a healthy dose of reality in the kindest way possible. It was well worth the $75 and for a wonderful cause.
The call helped me before I even answered the phone. It made me question and reassess my original idea.
I learned more in an hour than I ever have anywhere else. Questions and problems I never had thought of were brought to light.

It was a slap of reality with a healthy dose of encouragement. I feel that this was a big first step for me with getting my priorities straight.

I ended the conversation with a MUCH clearer picture of what I can do next to make my life better.
This is exactly what I felt.

To anyone waiting, don't. Just do it now.

Thanks Jack!

If someone hesitates, DON´T hesitate and take this opportunity to talk with Jack!

I took so much out of the call although I only had general questions. Some things I took away:
  • Vet your ideas for 90 days.
  • It´s all about the numbers.
  • Don´t follow the trends.
  • Look for the unobvious, there is money in everything.
  • As a beginner, you could ask old people in boring industries what business they would start.
  • Look for the small markets.
But there was so much more. I got the feeling that Jack went above and beyond to answer my questions with as much value as he could. I see so many things in a different light now. Especially what to do in my 20s. Thank you!

And I hope we were of some help in at least the financial situation of Marcus´ family. Thank you for that a lot more.

MJ, I Have not taken pics yet. How can I say this, when I saw them, It just wasn't the proper thing to do at that moment.

I am though going to go by late next week to give them some more that I raised in the last few weeks, Hopefully then they will be in better spirits and be up for it.

I had my call with Jack today. I have three pages of notes full of extremely valuable insights on how to grow my company, dominate the industry and become a better entrepreneur. Here are some of the things I learned:
  • how to validate your idea and make sure your business is going to work (simple stuff most people skip or have no idea about)
  • how to sell your idea over the phone (such a simple idea that makes so much sense, yet I've never thought about it)
  • how to dominate the market you want to enter (and why your business should NEVER be about just one product or service)
  • the surprising truth about hiring and managing salespeople
  • how to find out if your salesperson sucks
  • what makes a great salesperson (and no, it's NOT about the gift of gab)
  • how to do telemarketing the right way (make sure you focus on the right metrics)
  • your role in the business an an entrepreneur (it's NOT about managing)
  • how to delegate the right way (if you don't do it the right way, your business will own you instead of you owning your business)
  • how much should you pay your employees
  • how to make your employees stick with you for life
  • a simple question that will help you avoid getting into the wrong business (if you get into the wrong business, you'll just create a job for yourself)
  • the biggest mistake Jack did when he was a young entrepreneur (and why it cost him millions)
  • most important things Jack would say to a 20-something entrepreneur (and one thing you should do on a daily basis as a business owner)
  • ...and much more
Schedule your call RIGHT NOW to learn about all of the above and more. If you have any other questions, Jack will gladly answer them (I just listed things I personally was most interested in).

And no, sorry, I won't share specific lessons with you. PM Jack now and schedule your call with him so that he can help you personally.

PS. Make sure to send Jack some information about your idea and/or questions BEFORE the call so that he can think it over and you won't forget asking about it.

PPS. If you're still unsure whether you should have a call with Jack, stop wasting your time and do it now (while you still can). $75 is NOTHING compared to what you learn from Jack.

Seriously guys, you can help a family in need, let Jack enjoy a call with a fellow entrepreneur, grow your business and become not only a better businessman, but also a better person.

Wow, wow, wow…..
So, after missing the first wave of calls offered by jack, i jumped at the chance when i saw that he opened it up again…i immediately bought 3 one hour sessions….

waited a bit to do the first…wanted to progress a little further to have cad drawings etc so he could review before call...

So i got off the phone today.

Wow.

I am happy to hear that he really liked my idea/concept(his words), i was a little worried about getting crushed…i felt in my gut that my business could make me a millionaire, having a respected accomplished entrepreneur tell you otherwise would be disheartening to say the least.

He opened my eyes about the money/funding situation…

And he came up with a few ideas how to do this WITHOUT giving away equity…

so creative in his approach….

he made me understand the problems that i have with my partner…which i knew deep down inside, but he made me realize a few things about this situation before they would inevitably get ugly…

Jack is THE MAN…

…He is so next level in his thinking…I compare it to an Nba all-star vs a rec thursday night ymca ball player…

So i ordered 3 sessions and finished one session….

I AM ORDERING 5 MORE SESSIONS…..MAYBE 10.

I Feel his guidance is amazing…Very cool guy too, easy to talk to,….and wow, very generous to the caller and the family...

I couldn't be happier..

It would be great to see some progress threads spawn from these calls.

Thinking about starting one after I raise money, but then again I'm a little bit nervous to have all my info be public.

Just finished my third call with Jack [technically second call, but I hung out with him in San Antonio, so I'll count that too]. It's been ridiculously helpful - basically finalizing a pitch [with his help - a lot of help] now to bring to investors. Really appreciate the opportunity this forum has given me to meet people like this [Thanks MJ!]. Reading the posts on the forum are great[and extremely helpful], but when you get to actually have a flowing conversation with a man as experienced as Jack it puts a lot of things in context. Everyone that had one of these calls knows what I'm talking about, if you didn't get one you really missed out. Thanks again Jack!

P.s. Drove in his Ferrari when I went to San Antonio...yes a Ferrari is every bit as awesome as you've imagined.

Had my call with Jack this morning on no sleep and dead tired. SO. ABSOLUTELY. WORTH IT.

Thank you, Jack. Very much.

I took a massive amount of notes, and received a massive amount of value/inspiration/horizon expansion in return. Jack's biggest point? Think BIG, REALLY big and then be prepared to SCALE to get there.

Kept remembering passages from Chet Holmes' "Ultimate Sales Machine" as Jack was talking through next step processes.

Thanks again, Jack.

Had my call with Jack earlier today and I will echo what many have said in all the threads about his personality, knowledge, and character. Here are a few points from the enormous amount of value to be gleaned from the call.

Personality
  • Obviously a guy that likes meeting/talking to new people and genuinely listens to what they have to say
  • Easy guy to talk to with his mix of humor & experience. Great at using examples to convey his thoughts
  • You can pick up on his energy immediately and its easy to see that his creative wheels are always turning
Knowledge
  • Was able to see the holes in an early business idea I had immediately
  • Pointed out you must think ideas all the way through early in the process. Once you have one, think through all of your idea's possible objections you might receive from the people you are trying to sell to, raise money from, etc. You can save yourself a lot of time this way
  • Make sure to keep the mind open for all industries (i.e. older industries mentioned in prior posts) and the classic point - don't re-invent the wheel if you don't have too
  • Think bigger. If an idea doesn't look likely to be able to raise capital or make 6 figures in some way, then you could be better off finding a different idea.
Character
  • What Jack is doing for this family is incredible, but it's also a testament of how he does things in his life. Think of it this way; he could have just donated the money himself and moved on with his time. Instead he found a way to add value not only to the family, but also to many on this forum by taking their calls. He was able to exponentially increase the value added to this situation by taking a different angle than most would think of. His creativity, sincerity, and selflessness are all things to be admired.
Overall just an awesome experience and conversation. I really appreciate @JackEdwards taking the time to do this and can't thank him enough for continuing to add value to us all.

An Hour? WHoa! That's huge. Consultation with a proven business leader like Jack Edwards is invaluable. If I needed it right now I would jump on it. If I could save my consultation for a future date I would do just that. I am building and vetting a sales team, but when I reach that inevitable fork in the road, that's when I would rub the lamp and summon Jack for his wisdom and guidance. But that could be a year down the road.
Do it now. Make a friend that you can contact again when you're ready. He might help you to shorten that year.

To show people how much they can learn by spending mere $75 and make them schedule a call with Jack.

If I were to share the lessons here less people would be interested in a call thinking they already have everything for free here. Then, the family won't benefit, Jack won't be able to help personally (all his lessons were tailored for my business) and people would get less value. Free business lessons are rarely appreciated, and speaking with a super successful entrepreneur is a much different experience than reading someone's notes online.

Fully agree with MTF's sentiments. I had my call yesterday with Jack and it was completely worth it. He is so easy to chat with and even easier to listen to explain concepts etc. I could have chatted for hours.

Jack is able to seamlessly inject new ways of viewing opportunities. He is a real entrepreneur with a great down to earth attitude and will help you even if you have no single idea yet.

Plus the fact that he is truly helping a great cause makes it even more worthwhile.

Just organise the call if you haven't. You won't regret and will want more.

Thanks for helping.

Vig, when I spoke with Jack for my call a little over a month ago he'd made I believe 2 rounds of donations already (the original goal then some of the surplus). From what I recall the boy was increasingly not doing well.

I'm sure Jack can clarify more, just wanted to jump in since I knew he had already donated funds to them as of our talk a while ago for anyone who was wondering and still considering a call.

@Vigilante
Any update on the family that is the recipient of the funds? Have you made the donation already?

@JackEdwards

Just discussed 6 of my ideas with Jack via the 1 on 1 hour call.

Jack was able to ruthlessly kill GOOD ideas, and define the cheapest idea, the easiest idea,
and the biggest idea (which he would focus on) at lightning speed.

Some golden nuggets here.

On picking ONE business idea:

- "You need to get in the big business. I would rather get in the bigger business at the very beginning [instead of wasting time on the petty stuff]"

- "The question is: how you can get into that business?"

- "When you are in the ***** business, you're already rich."

On seeking investors:

- "If you want to open plumbing company, don't ask the pest control guys, go to ask the plumbers."

- "If you have a great idea, it's easier to get money from people who are already in the industry and have contacts."

Thanks again for your great analyses & advices, Jack!

I had an hour long call with Jack today. It was incredibly valuable to me. I didn't have the clearest picture about what I wanted to talk about, but Jack was able to help me make sense of a few large things going on in my life right now. Talking with him was very easy. I did not feel pressured or intimidated in any way.

I ended the conversation with a MUCH clearer picture of what I can do next to make my life better. I strongly suggest having a talk with Jack if he still has slots available, even if you don't have an exact idea of what to discuss. Just interacting with him got the Fastlane wheels in my head turning quicker than they have been in quite some time.

Towards the end of our conversation he discussed with me a philosophy that I think is summed up nicely in a quote by Jim Carrey: "So many of us chose our path out of fear disguised as practicality."

Take the next steps you need to make your life better. One of which, I suggest, would be to have a talk with Jack.

Had a chance to speak with Jack today and I will honestly say that it was the best investment I've ever made. Jack is a very genuine person and very easy to talk to. His business knowledge is incredible. Just minutes into the conversation, my mind was firing up on all cylinders.

One of the biggest realizations I had was that my mindset was a bit misguided. Jack thinks big; how to hire, scale and grow. My thoughts were focused on how to increase my current monthly income by a couple of thousands, he thinks in millions.

Another thing he mentioned that really hit me was that I'm currently in the me too business. I'm doing what everyone else is doing. Nothing wrong with that, but if I want to go from a few thousand a month to a few hundred thousand, I need to think more like Jack.

This was a mind blowing call! Every single person on this forum should take this opportunity. Its $75 F*cking dollars for god sake and its going to a family in need.

If you don't have the $75, borrow it, sell your shoes, get a part time...

Stop making excuses and start taking action! Get on the phone with Jack. You will thank me later.

Last but not least...Thank you Jack. You are a great business man and an even better person. I hope to follow your footsteps someday.

Sincerely,
Evelio.

I enjoyed having a call with Jack a couple of weeks ago. He has a real head for business and it is amazing to listen to him and get a glimpse into how he approaches ideas, opportunities, and problems. Like Oztrepreneur, I could have listened to him talk about his ventures for hours because I love a good success story and Jack is a prime example of someone who has an amazing ability to focus on what he wants to accomplish and strive toward that at full speed with great execution, no less...completely fascinating! Thanks for taking the time to speak with me. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I appreciate what you are doing for the family at the same time - value added all around!

It would be great to see some progress threads spawn from these calls.
I'm waiting for a few things to work out first. I completely had a mindset change from the call and stopped going for flashy and looking for products to sell to peers.

I've been going door to door in my city talking to employee's, managers, secretaries and some owners asking questions about their business. Partly Dane Maxwell type questions and some general questions about their business.

Ended up finding 3 SaaS ideas in two weeks. 1 is a priority and the others will come later. I have a DBA and dev lined up, but I'm waiting to hear back from a few people about funding.

I widened my lens of potential customers and got off my a$$. Now to see if it pays out.

Did you just pick one niche? And how did you introduce yourself? Did you introduce yourself as a software entrepreneur or did you mention something more general?

I am curious because I have been doing a lot of cold calls and thought to have found a problem. Worked it out by building a full prototype and am now in the process of testing the demand through email and a landing page. But it's really slow, haven't had any replies yet....

So it might become time soon enough to move on and find a more urgent need.
Nope.

Literally door to door. Restaurants, Car Dealerships, Real Estate Agents, Computer Shops, Dentists, Book Stores, (Found another SaaS there.) Offices, Paint Stores, Hardware Stores, HVAC, Mechanics, Libraries, Lawn and Garden Servicing, Salons, Massage Therapists, Appliance Repair...

Most peoples problem IS picking a niche. Never limit yourself to a niche. Money is everywhere. My SaaS is something that spans multiple fields. I would have never found the problem if I had chose one.

I told them I wanted to know more about their business. Plain and simple. I had tried to introduce myself as a software entrepreneur before over the phone and it didn't feel right. So I just said what I really wanted to know.

Think more like a journalist rather than an entrepreneur in order to get into the door. I found a lot had no clue what a software entrepreneur was and just thought I was selling them something and ended up confused.

That is my experience so far, I haven't "done it" yet, but that is my journey.
