I'm just starting a journey to $1k/month with SaaS. I have a lot of software engineering experience but 0 marketing.
I've been looking at finding ideas, and I saw a lot of people on Youtube talking about SaaS that suggest building your personal brand, and showing the steps as you're building so you can use youtube as your marketing channel. They are also basically doing exactly this, and marketing their SaaS.
I wonder if this is a good strategy or if most SaaS entrepreneur do not do this?
I genuinely enjoy sharing even though I'm honestly terrified of it, but it's getting me outside my comfort zone but I don't know if it's just noise, and actually I'd be only wasting my time doing it or if it's a legit strategy.
I just posted yesterday on my YT channel just because I was super scared to do so but I set myself a goal to get to $1k MRR with SaaS starting from $0 and no idea of what I'm building yet.
I have plenty of ideas of stuff that I'd like to share like books that I've read so reviews of that, and mindset stuff, and AI stuff (I've been using it every day to code) so I wonder if it's even worth the time sharing this as a marketing strategy while I'm building my SaaS or if I should just focus purely on the product/customer and not focus on social media marketing.
Here's the first video that I made about the challenge:

I'm just getting started, and was scared to post it but part of it is also just to let go of that voice that is always so scared of it's own F*cking shadow. I got 11 subscribers as silly as it sounds, I was very thankful to break the 10 sub mark. I think also building in public could be good potentially exactly for the reason that I mentioned but it could also be some Youtube noise that I'm seeing.
What are your thoughts?
