I've seen this pattern again and again.
Person A: I don't want to start a local home service biz because it doesn't scale. I want to do something tech related.
Person B: I just want something simple that works and the ability to control my free time.
3 years later:
Person A: Has zero revenue and is back to working a job(nothing wrong with working a job btw!). He now realizes that when you start an online biz, your competition is on a national stage. It's virtually guaranteed there will be a handful of elite competitors with more skills, more financial resources, more distribution channels, more everything.
He's depressed because he knows there's an escape route, but can't seem to crack the code. He's stressed out of his mind from his manager breathing down his neck, the skyrocketing cost of living, and the looming danger of being laid off. His health is taking a hit.
Person B: He's making $500k/year in profit while working 2-4 hours a day. It doesn't scale nearly as well as tech, but it doesn't matter to him because he's investing his profits in vehicles that pay 5-15% dividends per year. Things are snowballing over time for him. The competition is almost non-existent. A lot of them don't even speak English or answer their phone.
What's more important to him is that he has free time for his friends and family. He's in very good health for his age due to the lack of stress and the fact that he's moving his body daily instead of living the sedentary lifestyle.
I'm not saying that you shouldn't go into a tech related biz. Far from that. I'm just helping you get a lay of the land so that you have all the data to make the best decision for yourself.
For me personally I just want to be healthy, live a simple life of freedom doing what I want, and chill with family.
For those curious to explore home service businesses, the screenshot below is for a wood floor refinishing job that took 2 hours of work + 2 hours waiting for polyurethane to dry. Imagine if you linked up with Andy and ran some Google Ads to get just one of these each week? You can probably get one per day, but I'm just keeping expectations low here. How would your life change?
