I was told at my gym that I'm not allowed to help my friends with form because the gym could get sued. You need to be a licensed personal trainer and to have insurance to do that. But I'm allowed to let them hurt themselves trying to figure it out on their own.

Tyranny of experts indeed.

Most major CEOs are professional virtue signalers. They are masochists begging for the government to regulate them. They also probably know better.

I never understood why this is so great? You are at the beach but you have to be on your laptop. Washed out in the sun. Sand all over you. Not swimming. Not enjoying the beach. No one to talk to. If you dare take a break to go swimming you have to make sure no one messes with your laptop.

This laptop on a beach business mantra... So not my thing. Build something bigger... Something that pays for actual beach time.

Better yet:

View attachment 37417

They make them for a reason... Because people can afford them.

Stop being a wimp that aspires to a $1500 computer that you need to use when you’re at a beach. Aspire to the yacht, with the time and freedom to use it and bring along some friends and family. You can even bring the laptop too... So you can check on your money while you are refilling your cocktail.
In my version, I don't need to check if someone is stealing my computer or not because I own the island that has the beach I am at.

Your idea about the movie with the net worth bubble displayed over the head and separating people into social classes made me think about this movie:

The display is on the arm, and it shows time, not money, but in this case, it's the same thing, and it separates people into social classes.

I don't remember much about the movie. The main character who is time-poor (living paycheck to paycheck) gets a bunch of time put on his clock by a man of wealth who is tired of living. A cop investigating the wealthy man's death connects the poor guy and assumes he stole the money. He arrests the poor guy and confiscates the money. The rest of the movie is basically the poor guy being poor, trying to survive while fighting to bring down the system (I think).

Amazing script.

Unrelated note: I have just created my very first Facebook ad. I was amazed at how specific their targeting is.

And your computers are disposable.

1:30 on a Tuesday and I'm walking outside. It's 74 degrees with a breeze and it's quiet. I'm pulling my daughter in a little red wagon behind me, and I found a dime on the ground too.

I remember 11 years ago I was working in an office with no windows making collection calls about now with three hours left on the clock. Every once in a while I'd go into the office next to mine, pass a long row of windows on the other side of the cubicles headed to the printer. Every time I looked out I wished I was *out there* instead of *in here.*

Took a minute to get out here, but I've never wished the reverse.

What's your main biz right now?

I've seen so many from you! Voice acting / audio narration, building business, the track, the Legos...

I don't have one. I mostly collect income deposits from different sources. I used to search a lot for that *one big idea* that's right for me. So far I haven't found it. So I keep creating stuff that can be mostly passive so I can spend time figuring the other part out. Hope that makes sense. I don't have it all figured out though, so right now I'm playing with wood and Legos :D

Trick controversial question but I'm curious and I know you won't get mad lol:

Having the lifestyle that you have now, would you ever change it if you were given an opportunity to build a business that would permanently, unconditionally set you for life?

While building it (say, the next 5-10 years), you'd have less flexibility, more responsibilities, and more stress but you'd be creating something big that could become 100x bigger than all your businesses until now.

Or no matter what, you'd rather live your current lifestyle where you're the only boss with no other people involved but also with your income largely limited by your decision to live this chill lifestyle?

As an example of the above. I'm going to create passive income with woodworking by filming myself building one-of-a-kind designs, posting on YouTube, and then linking back to my website where people can purchase step-by-step instructions to do the same build on their own. As the audience grows, it eventually becomes a passive one-man system that requires little more than doing something I enjoy doing.

Well, I think the answer is that I would build it, but I'm not sure it has to be an either/or kind of thing. I love the life I have now, and I don't see why I couldn't build something bigger while maintaining mostly the same lifestyle.

For instance, going back to the Lego stuff mentioned above, I can design and build a small mosaic in a day. That's $150 - $200 in my pocket. But I could also scale that up exponentially by selling Lego portraits as donor recognition walls (like the kind you find on the walls inside of hospitals or zoos).

That would take roughly the same amount of time to design, somewhat longer to build, and would be worth more like $20,000 to $100,000+ depending on the size. I could do it alone, but it would be easier with a couple of employees.

I haven't found myself that driven to do things in a bigger way though. I really value the simplicity of how things are now. At the same time, I don't like getting too comfortable, so when the right idea comes along (maybe it already has), I'll probably aim for something bigger again.

Sometimes I think if I'm not fighting for more, then I've become complacent which means I might be risking what I've got.

I can relate to that. Simplicity is very addictive. Once you get used to it through removing as much stuff as you can, it's very hard to go back to adding new stuff to your life. It feels almost like regression in life.

I think keeping things simple and flexible works well with my personality too. I have a habit of losing interest in things after a few months, but I also have a circular pattern where after about a year my interest in that same idea picks up again as strong as it was before. So I can kind of take up where I left off when I build systems that continue to perform in the background when I'm not working on them.

Some gems in there...

And, what is more, the vital criterion of “fitness” is very different in the government and on the market. In the market, the fittest are those most able to serve the consumers; in government, the fittest are those most adept at wielding coercion and/or those most adroit at making demagogic appeals to the voting public.

Word to supplement companies ... if you use SUCRALOSE in your damn crappy products, STOP calling your product NATURAL -- it's NOT!!!!

I subscribed to the google trends newsletter because i wanted to know what people googled the most on a daily basis. I asked the info for three countries:

1. Belgium
2. France
3. USA

Here's what I found after 8 weeks.

#1 topic: SPORTS: the number 1 topic people google by far, is sports, equally in the three countries.

#2 topic: famous people (especially when they are dead): when a famous person says or does something extraordinary, or gets arrested by the police, people google it en masse.

#3 topic: the news

That surprised me to be honest. I thought people would google "how to make money" or "how to be happy".

Went up snowboarding yesterday and at the cafe / ticket place I was *refused* service because I didn't have a debit or credit card... apparently this cashless thing is really happening.

This would never work in the city, but I just went around asking people to buy my ticket and food with their card and give them my cash after traveling nearly 2 hours there was no way I'm just going to wait 6 hours for the bus to come back, one guy made a good 17$ profit, just handed him 100 bucks and the ticket was $83. Quite ridiculous, that someone can be refused service after paying cash for the bus shuttle to go up the mountain

Ah, first world problems great to have. Maybe it doesn't really matter as the company is likely making hundreds of millions, but I really believe when you are in a service based business the customer's experience should be as perfect as can be, I'll consider visiting again but don't exactly feel like a kid on the 23rd of December type excitement at the thought of going up there again :wideyed:

Please if you have a business that is experience oriented you should back over backwards and jump through hoops of fire to make the customer happy, not say oh yes we understand you took 2 hours out of your day to come here, but we cannot accept your legal tender.

Great day overall though.

Have you subscribed to any of these recommended newsletter?

I cannot legally perform aesthetic procedures for 3 years.

DO I:

1. establish my "aesthetic practice" or "med spa" minus the procedures I cannot legally perform so I go all in to lasers, depilation, cosmetics, skincare... and than just add botulinum and HA fillers
OR
2. pursue one of many other ideas I have and kind of already started working on
OR
2a. - blog/learning website for strength, conditioning and nutrition from doctors point of view to maximize health benefits (am licensed nutritionist, MD and working on my PhD so "know-how" is there)
OR
2b. - create a non-med relate business like diapers - subscription... there is around 20.000 newborns in my country per annum and no subscription based provider... so only getting 5% of market is like 1000 subscribers with 20% margin at around 60$/months thats a-lot of dough... (6figures in profit)
OR
2c. - there are next to zero bespoke (measure to fit) suit store for men in my country... so doing that would probably work as well...

Pros of 1.
- it will establish my business for later, its lower price buy in for potential buyers or clients and it would be easier to introduce costly procedures as botulinum toxin and HA fillers etc.

Cons of 1.
- medium investment
- until I can legally do my "main" procedures I will always have the feeling of not living up to my ful potential, also am afraid it would come out as just another "cosmetic practice".
- need to hire a cosmetic technician

Pros of 2a.
- already has enormous know how, lots of content
- can complement my "day job" as family doctor
- next to zero investment

Cons of 2a.
- "fitness" and "lifestyle" market is saturated AF and people cant tell the difference between a weekend certificate and PhD
- I cannot really think of a way to scale?
- i suffer from "imposter syndrome"

Pros of 2b, 2c.
- its not medical related, I think its easiest to scale especially diapers thing, if I fail it doesn't matter on my "day job"

Cons of 2b, 2c.
- medium investment few thousand bucks, lots of logistics etc.

Can you do 1 but partner with another doctor who can do those procedures, do that for awhile, then in 3 years add your own procedures?

I recently had the misfortune of meeting a woman who said that she preferred dudes with "dad bods" because muscular guys made her feel inferior and that she doesn't like American beauty standards.

What's up with people who act like "society" has "beauty standards?"

It doesn't make any sense.

Who you desire to have sex with is your preference, not theirs.

You like skinny, fat, short, tall, blonde, brunette, lighter skin, darker skin? Cool. That's what you're into.

I mean, if you like kids, that's a problem but we aren't talking about that, just basic features of other people your age or other adults.

You don't have to find someone attractive; that's up to you.

Personally, I find a fit woman more attractive than an out of shape woman. Sue me!

People are so damn weird. Always talking in terms of groups and collectives, never owning any of their own opinions/statements/feelings or thoughts.

I could, BUT its a small and specific market and then my "partner" would take all of my potential clients.

Ok, so the chick was honest about what is sexually attractive to her.. and you’re calling her a loser?

You and her have different values. No big deal.
