There are a few, it's quite rare to see them, unless you specifically go out to look for them.

Is "absentee business" a myth or a real thing?

I know people who own businesses and don't work there, but they have their kid(s) working there, which is kind of different.

How big can your biz get while you're still working full time somewhere else? This has been my biggest BS bias: I don't want to quit my job (see INSIDERS intro for why), but I have this nagging belief that you need to commit full time to do anything valuable...

edit: this comes back to the book preaching "monogamy" over "polygamy" in business.

top 3 things to do today, do you guys count your workout in it also?

from the last few days, I became lazy, now considering adding workout in the must-do list.

If it isn't already a habit and if you aren't already in the shape you want to be then I think it should be there.

Health is always more important than wealth - in the short term term it is easy to forget but then long term it leads to massive regrets. You only need 30-60 mins a day to be in amazing shape and set yourself up for all the benefits.

On the homeless posts above...

Last week I was out in the snow here and saw a really cool tree covered in snow I wanted to take a photo of me with. The only thing to leave my phone on was a timber unit that also had a trash can built into it. There was snow everywhere else so I was trying to set my phone up on the side of the timber unit thing to get a pic using a timer.

Anyway a minute goes by as I was finding it hard to do and a look up and this posh looking lady was walking towards me - only a few meters away. She looks at me and I look at her, she then looks at the trashcan and then back at me - and she presumes I am homeless haha.

She instantly does this kinda "uh oh" look cause it is just the two of us on this walking path and she turns 180 and starts walking off as fast as possible. Haha!

---

One other quite homeless story...

When I was living in Alberta Canada and working in the oil industry I came back to town after a long work rotation and saw a homeless guy searching in the dumpster near my house. I wanted to give him something so I looked around the truck and I had a $30 top quality ribeye steak that was in my freezer box that I hadn't eaten yet.

So I get out of the truck and walk over feeling all good about myself and I tell him "Hey man I got something for".
He climbs out of the trash dumpster and I try to hand him the steak and he takes one look and goes "what the f**k I am going to do with that" - and he jumps right back in to the dumpster without saying anything else and looking annoyed that I took up his time from doing whatever he is doing.

I laughed about it for quite a while afterwards cause it did make a lot of sense - he had zero ways to cook it and it was pretty much meaningless.

I know this might come off as mean, but that guy really should have took your steak.

If he's truly hungry, there is a way. It seems that was a bit of a golden gumball, and he just said "nah, too much effort."

I do the workout, I do light to medium level workout atleast 6 days a week.

Now a days I am incorporating full body deep stratches twice a week. I recommend you to do it as well.
Because sitting all day can cause back problems.

Went for an early morning drive to run some errands.

Went to get a car wash and had to snap this pic. It led to deep thought. This "view" was a dream years ago. Driving on my own schedule was a dream years ago. Waking up when I want to was a dream years ago. Now it's all my reality. It's really crazy how this universe rewards those that have a burning desire to succeed.

Sorry for the short rant/brag but if someone that is going through something is reading this, just know that I'm no one special. I wasn't smart enough for med school. I wasn't satisfied with normal for a 9-5. I just wanted to succeed so freaking bad. Out of dozens of failed businesses, I have two that really pulled me up and they didn't come until AFTER many failed attempts.IMG_7157.jpg

Not a big NSX fan.. but my friend has one and he doesn't stop driving it.
I primarily think it would be way less repair/maintenance headaches than the equivalent lambo or ferrari etc.

I signed a collaboration contract with a marketing agency in Germany that works with businesses in the US and Canada.

Meanwhile in Italy copywriters are required to work in the office of the company they are hired by.

I...what?

What's with the Luke Skywalker avatars? Did I miss something? (I don't watch any type of MSM news.)

What do y'all think of this article by Mr. Slowlane himself? Seems totally out of character for him: using margin to buy real estate.

Teaching the Slowlane is Fastlane, the duplicity never ceases to amaze me.

Add this to my never-ending list of "laws that shouldn't exist."
Oh I worded my post poorly. It's not that they are forced by law. It's that this country is so far behind in everything that managers want to SEE YOU at your pc, otherwise they think you are not working.

I mean he is the chosen one. I'm waiting for @thechosen1 to use Neo as his avatar so I can confuse him with @Jon L

Well, it was Anakin, because that's why I picked the name. It was always my username for everything as a kid; I'm not being cocky, I just like Star Wars.

But I grew up a little and realized that Anakin is a completely horrible character and that Luke was the real chosen one, even though I don't find Mark Hamil very cool at all.

Nope, he's alive and kicking AFAIK, still drinking blue alien milk and projecting strange holograms or whatever the heck that was... I just pretend those were never made. MSM and pop culture are big time sucks anyway.

Americans are such neurotic F*cks. Stop giving a shit about whether or not you were awkward.

'Oh no, people were mildly socially uncomfortable for a few seconds. The world is ending!'

People deserve to be uncomfortable - it shakes up their stupid behavior.

The new book that I am reading. Has completely enthralled me. I see a lot of Star Wars & Dune. Specifically, what if Anakin becoming Darth Vader, was the best option. I just love Star Wars, so.... yeah. lol

It's real, but it means you have to have systems and processes in place that are good enough to replace the owner's direct, daily supervision.

Most smaller businesses don't have that... if they did, they would normally grow to the point where you wouldn't call them smaller businesses.

If you have this kind of business, you probably are not working somewhere full time. Unless it's to start your other business.

The more profitable (replacing 'bigger' with a slightly better measure) the business is, the more likely it is to not require full time attention from the owner (s). So it's not so much a matter of "how big can a business get" before the owner has to spend all their time there. A very small, unprofitable business usually requires more work from the owner than other businesses... this is why people burn out in the early phases when they haven't gotten the business standing on its own legs yet.

One blind corner is the "no exit success." Basically the owner makes good money, but they never externalize the business. As a result, they're stuck being the main worker there forever, or until they have a stroke or something. Before that happens, you need to find ways to make the business absentee-ownership compatible... then you can choose whether to actually work there, whether to let your kids work there, etc.
