Hello,

We manufacture plastic access doors(panels) in Canada. Spent about $150k for patent (already filed and approved) and to modify everything to be up to standards.
The doors turned out to be great because they are easy to open, last longer, and does not damage your drywall.

Now we are selling them locally and on Amazon, but we are looking to find a distributor/wholesaler to get to big chain stores.

If anyone has experience in this and can help I am willing to pay for information or contacts. I am also open to discuss a % of sales for your work.

Hey sorry I don't have an answer unless you want to import to Italy.

Out of curiosity do this kind of inventions really need a patent? Competitor 3 is basically the same as you, bar 100° opening and needing a coin to open, which imho doesn't even matter since you usually don't open those every day and everyone has coins(?).

The patent was a unique hinge idea that lets it open 180° . There is only 1 plastic door manufacturer that needs coin to open and they stole our idea and now are paying us 13% of all sales as royalties for using this. But their door is just a copy, it is not effective.
90% of our competitors you need a screwdriver to open, it or some sort of a coin. No imagine you have water leakage and it is emergency. What is easier? go look for a coin or just use your hands to open it. Not to mention our price is similar if not cheaper.

I get it but anyone could make it open with a sliding piece(for example) instead of rotating, I'm very fashined by this patent world but it feels so sketchy.

Yeah, there are multiple ways of doing it honestly. Door just makes the most sense. Patents do work because once someone tries to steal your idea (invention) you can go sue them for % of profit. I think anyone who is serious about manufacturing something needs a patent or else china will copy and start selling it 50% cheaper killing your business.

Have you made any progress in following the advice I gave in response to your PM?

I don't see why you want to or need to go through a distributor or wholesaler when I have shown you how to sell direct to big box retailers. Distributors and wholesalers will simply lower your profits.

The huge retail chain that I first recommended actually has the most seller friendly system that I have ever seen for new sellers to make a pitch. They will even allow you to do a live demonstration. Although I described a static demonstration, a live one would be a clincher.

@Likwid24 do you still have contacts with big box hardware?

Not with the actual buyers, but I do have 2 friends that have great connections and help get products into big box. One is actually based out of Canada. DM me for contact info.
