So who here has changed their daily life so far?

I have to admit, I just do whatever I want. I was nice to go to Home Depot today, a Saturday, and there was about as many people there as an average Tuesday morning.

I have gone out to eat several times. I will go to church tomorrow. I’ll probably play golf after.

Maybe I should be more afraid of it, but am just not.

I have been more conscious not to touch my face while out and about. I wash my hands when I get home. I wipe out phone down once or twice a day. I take advantage of the hand sanitizer in public places. I also have plenty of food and consumables to stay home for a month if need be. I am just as heavily armed as usual. I don’t lick random people. That’s about it.

Have most people seriously isolated themselves? Not saying it is stupid or anything... I just haven’t gone to those extremes.
Same, just living my life as I normally would.

I heard an audio recording today of someone with supposed INSIDERS Pentagon information. It's not vet-table enough for me to even post it here, but if what I heard in this recording is true, there's a possibility of an Italy-type martial law in the United States within the next few weeks. It kind of makes sense though, and most of the largest corporations in the United States are on board. Kind of like ripping the band-aid off quickly - contain it, anyone who would come out of the back side of the quarantine period sick would be treated, but it would be an easy way to isolate it and keep it from spreading further.
The US intelligence community with direction from the executive branch classified much of the federal government’s planned response to Covid19 back in January.

We don’t know what’s coming. But be assured life is going to change drastically over the next few weeks.

I definitely have. It's getting nasty out there.

When you’re done reading the article, this is what you’ll take away:

The coronavirus is coming to you.
It’s coming at an exponential speed: gradually, and then suddenly.
It’s a matter of days. Maybe a week or two.
When it does, your healthcare system will be overwhelmed.
Your fellow citizens will be treated in the hallways.
Exhausted healthcare workers will break down. Some will die.
They will have to decide which patient gets the oxygen and which one dies.
The only way to prevent this is social distancing today. Not tomorrow. Today.
That means keeping as many people home as possible, starting now.

As a politician, community leader or business leader, you have the power and the responsibility to prevent this.

You might have fears today: What if I overreact? Will people laugh at me? Will they be angry at me? Will I look stupid? Won’t it be better to wait for others to take steps first? Will I hurt the economy too much?

But in 2–4 weeks, when the entire world is in lockdown, when the few precious days of social distancing you will have enabled will have saved lives, people won’t criticize you anymore: They will thank you for making the right decision.

Kind of distressing. My guess is they are coming up on some really scary numbers and are trying to avoid the sensationalist media from triggering full blown "riot-in-the-streets" panic.

Everyone gave the Trump administration shit for not doing enough.

They’ve been planning for two months. I don’t know what their plan is, or if it will work, or if it has an ulterior motive.

Regardless of what you believe, just know the federal government has been drafting plans for two months and those plans are going to disrupt everyone’s life indefinitely.

Amazing. I just posted that, and then continued to read through this thread. You and I are on the same page. Your post sums my my position perfectly. Having been to South Korea many times, may God bless your town and that land and that country. I will return there again some day.

Wow haha, crazy we posted the same thing.

I've made a lot of preparations and changes. This crisis is basically my "FTE". I'd be in a lot more control of my situation if I was financially independent, but I'm not, so I F*cked myself by not focusing on that. My life choices will be very different after this crisis, assuming I'm here to make them.

I think I prefer the virus to the government.

Coronavirus will certainly kill less people than the world’s governments routinely do. What bothers me most is people turn into collectivist government worshipers in times of crisis. It reminds me of that South Park episode when Butters prays to the government and goes to confession at the DMV.

Pressure cooker should make quick work of beans.

For sure. Democide is the biggest cause of death ever. It’s not talked about and it’s terrifying.

If the virus will peak at 1% of the population, maybe the 1% most likely to survive - could VOLUNTEER to get it?

Unless I misunderstood Trump’s press conference yesterday, it would seem to me that preliminary estimates put us at 1-2% infected right now. The peak is way higher.

I highly recommend an Instant Pot. I've had one for about five years and use it all the time. I just bought a second, larger one so I can cook rice and beans at the same time.

Add beans and sort out any debris. Stick your finger to the top of the beans and add water until it's up to the knuckle in the middle of your finger. Then add some onions, garlic, pepper, soy sauce, and whatever seasonings you want. Set the manual setting for 30 minutes. Once it gets up to pressure let it cook until the time is finished and the pressure comes down naturally without using the steam release. The whole process takes about an hour.

You can also use it as a slow cooker. I have a batch of pinto beans with habenero cooking for 16 hours now.

Also rice is super easy in an Instant Pot. Since the steam stays in during the pressure cycle, all rice uses a 1:1 rice to water ratio. No matter if it's white rice, brown rice, sushi rice, I still use 1:1 but adjust the manual pressure cook time. About 6 minutes for white rice, 25 minutes for brown rice and let the steam release naturally.

If the peak is 10%, and the healthiest 10% volunteered to get it, the death-rate would be super low (compared to elderly getting it).

I think we know what’s coming, it’s not hard to figure it out. Just look what other counties have been doing.

Italy - full scale lockdown
France - full scale lockdown
Spain - I believe in full scale lock down or close to it
Poland - sounds like the are there or moving towards it fast.

We are on our way to a full scale lockdown, may start as a few cities, states, or regions. But expect it to go full scale US with complete halt of airservice.

I’m the worst cook in the world.. omg. I own an Instantpot and I didn’t use it. Thanks dude! Imma use this recipe tomorrow.

In other news has anybody posted about that Harvard professor and Chinese kid who got arrested? I just found a link... it’s weird.

Active cases is a more important statistic to look at to gauge overall progress in my opinion. Look at the trend downward in China over the past month:

View attachment 31099

China also implemented some pretty draconian measures to contain it, up to an including road blockades and stormtrooper-esque forced quarantines to keep people from people travelling around. +1 for authoritarian governments I guess.

Yeah, I'm assuming once a certain percentage of the population has had it, that it will start to fade out. So I'm saying start with the healthiest people first, to minimize deaths.

If you want to get weird let’s do it. I’ve been refraining because the reality is none of us know the truth, but there is an interesting theory out there, and it’s backed by some hefty documentation.

More like they f*cked up big time and went into full damage control. +1 for them being an authoritarian dictatorship.

Serious question. If we don’t get accurate testing for another 4-6 weeks and then it takes another 6-10 weeks to test a majority of the population.. how will we know it’s “over”?

We’ll be stuck just listening to the media yeah?
