I have been testing my idea for a couple of months with no luck. I've tried Google Ads, I did make some mistakes, and hired a mentor to help me out with some stuff. But now is my biggest road block. I am looking at these long-tail keywords but the CPC is crazy, top of the range is $30+, I don't think it's a viable strategy. The goal is to get sign ups to my website, I noticed I targeted wrong words, and I found out recently why the long-tail words have the highest bid, it's because they are the most accurate and it makes sense.

Am I simply in a market that is way too competitive? I have read these articles that talk about MVP with Google Ads, and how they verified their idea in 2 weeks. I have no idea how the hell they managed to do that, I might be missing something. I can only think of that the niche that they were in, wasn't competitive.

Has anyone here got experience with MVP with Google Ads? If so what are your experiences with it?

isawforme.com, try the quiz, see what happens.

Also, try testing your MVP with display ads instead of search ads.

Try a vertical with high volume and lower CPCs? You can learn faster and cheaper.

I don’t know your Google Ads level, but consider “product founder” fit. Is this particular vertical a good fit for you at the stage you’re at?

$30 CPCs suggests you’re up against people with deep pockets, and they often hire specialists to manage heir campaigns. Do you want to go head to head with specialists who’ve been doing Google Ads for 5+ years... or go head to head with mom ‘n’ pop?

Is your mentor helping you with the technical aspect of Google Ads, or ... ?

Also... MVP is more about “do enough to find out if the project is worth pursuing” than “do enough to make it work”.

Vertical? Not sure what you mean by that. Yes I am definently up with people who are loaded with cash.

The mentor is sorta helping me to optimize my campaign. So I did one walkthrough with him and he made me some suggestions like phrase match for negative keywords, setting up goals, changing the country that I bid in becuse it was from a non english speaking country, going for more longer tail keywords like "Hire a qualified electrician" instead of "Qualified electrician", also optimizing my landing page and some other stuff.

Vertical = Niche

Mom ‘n’ pop are the small business owners trying to run ads themselves. Competing against them is a lot easier than against professional Google Ads specialists.

So you're suggesting to go for keywords such as "local qualified electricians" for example? Instead of "qualified electricians"? I guess also in terms of locations on Google Ads I can select a specific location instead of targeting the whole country?
