Hey guys,

I sell toys on FBA (manufactured in china), and now Amazon are saying they need a CPC (childs product certificate), I have got a lab tested our product which passes for the CPC, but amazon are annoying not accepting the certificate, I was wondering if anyone has had any success in doing so before as I would appreciate some advice.

I live in the UK and import it to FBA USA.

Lab testing was completed by a company called ACT which is located in the US and is on the cpsc.gov website.

I have filled out what amazon requires but they keep coming with some automated response and not telling me exactly what to do.

This was their response:

(1)

• We were not able to verify the supplier information listed on the invoice provided. Please provide an invoice with valid, verifiable supplier information.

Invoice has the website, address, email of our supplier. Not sure what else they need. I also asked what was missing and the response was

1) While the documents provided appear to have met our basic requirements, this application does include internal checks that we are unable to divulge as doing so may compromise this process.

So here I am not knowing what to do to move forward.

(2)

• The CPC includes a certifying body that is not located in the US.

The lab we chose was ACT, which is listed on the accepted testing laboratory for the CPSC website… AND we sent it off to their long beach lab.

and their response

2) Unfortunately, due to the proprietary nature of these applications, Seller Support is unable to provide any additional information outside of what has already been communicated about required testing for Toy products sold in the US. A list of each consumer product safety regulation to which the product was certified for needs rules requiring Third-Party Testing and a Children’s Product Certificate can be viewed on the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website for Toy products sold in the US. We recommend contacting the manufacture for further information if necessary.

ok, she did not mention anything that could help with the above image showing that the company is in the US.

(3)

• The product you have applied to sell has not been tested for all applicable standards within the CPC provided.

As far as we were told, it needed to be ASTM F 963-17 compliant and Prop 65.

Both marked as C when tested (compliant).

Their response

3) Please be advised that Amazon’s requirement are in accordance with the rules and regulation set forth by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) for Toy products sold in the US. You can learn more about Toy product visiting the US CPSC website: CPSC.gov

Has someone had any experience in the past getting a CPC accepted with Amazon? It’s frustrating because, they basically ignored everything I said, and came back with a robotic generic response, which provided zero help.

If anyone has had any experience or can provide any guidance… PLEASE HELP!

I too had this issue with one of the toys I bought from a wholesaler. They're asking for a CPC and the company who manufactured it gave me a CPSIA. I was questioning the Amazon Rep how did the current seller able to list his product if the manufacturer only had a CPSIA? They couldn't answer and kept asking for a CPC. :(

The CPC is fine and pretty easy to get. The issue I’m having is amazon accepting the CPC.

Example - they are complaining that the verifying body isn’t in the US, even after providing screenshots proving that the laboratory is in CA. Then when showing then the screenshots they reply with the most automated non relevant message ever.

Hi,

A bit late to the party but I'm in the same situation. I have been selling baby bibs on amazon.co.uk for 3 years and want to make the move to the US. I had the bibs tested at Bureau Veritas in NY which in my mind is the gold standard in testing and they have said I have had it tested for everything I need to sell in the US.

I am getting the same repeating messages saying my certifying body for my CPC is not located in the US. For months I have thought this is the third party lab they are referring to. But actually the certifying body for my CPC is my company - based in the UK. How is this a problem? Amazon encourage global selling so surely I do not have to have a US address? If I do need to, how do I get one without being fraudulent? Can you have a PO Box style address? Or do you need to have utility bills and business registrations etc??

They have also said "The product you have applied to sell has not been tested for all applicable standards within the CPC provided " - which is a round about way of saying I'm missing a test? Is it? But Bureau Veritas confirmed I'm not....

Are they just stringing me along and is there a "secret" reason I am not allowed to sell? This is my first product in the US but have great performance metrics and seller reviews in the UK.

Any enlightenment would be greatly appreciated! Pulling my hair out here...

I have similar issue with Amazon, not with the toys but with the Personal Care.
2 weeks after we provided our first shipment to Amazon they have banned our listing so we need to provide invoices, manufacturer statements with approval us to sold this product, all material characteristics.
We were waiting a long, long time when anyone process this case for us. We pushed lot of emails, with the same automatic answers from the support team member.

As we sold in 4 AMZ marketplaces in EU we went through the process for each marketplace. It kills this product acceleration which was pretty awesome on the beginning.

We were waiting about 1 month for positive results when they unlock our listing. Happiness wasn't long caused one month later our account was temporarily restricted for the same reason (don't know why?) and we need to force same story again..

During this story it was helpful for us to read AMZ forum for similar topic caused there we found there some direct e-mails to Amazon employee related to restricted product. I try to describe topic again with very pleasant way, with many attachments showing all certificates. It helps us to find a person which was very helpful for us, she understand our issue and resolve it for us partially, caused...

For these day, 10 months after product launch, one of our colour-variation still can't be sold in UK marketplace. For Amazon grey version is fine, white is not. I just lose this battle, 1:0 for Amazon.
After that i remind one of UNSCRIPTED chapter about CONTROL and similar story included inside the book.
For me the positive feedback of this issue was that i experienced how the commandment CONTROL is important. It was one of two sales channels i focus.
