“Here’s why you should buy it” is what most websites tell them.

Sometimes, just sometimes, why don’t you stfu and take their damn money, instead of telling them why they should give you their money?

But Andy ...

That means thinking about what they want to buy and not what I want to sell?

How can I make money putting myself in their shoes?!

A client supplies and installs Smart Glass.

They want people Googling for "smart glass" to hit their Smart Glass page.

... where they explain what Smart Glass is, how it works, and why you should buy it.

What the page doesn't mention is that they supply and install Smart Glass, so those visitors looking to buy will keep searching till they can find someone who'll take their money.

Those drums you hear in the distance are me. War drums.

I just finished the mother of all websites to divide and conquer my industry. This has been a two week project. Kind of like making a dugout canoe and spears. Only more deadly.

All my life I've been selling, reading people, steering them accordingly, and CLOSING. What seems natural to us @Andy Black I can assure you ISN'T to the vast majority of people. How do I sell? How do I talk to people? What price should I charge? What do I say when I call them on the phone? Ha...

I upped the ante. I will not lose a client. To not bore you with details, I threw in a triple performance guarantee - because people guarantees in writing. I also threw in professional marketing services that almost nobody does. And, just for the cherry on top - I threw in a $500 all inclusive warranty for 12 months. If they feel lucky and don't want the warranty (don't say I didn't warn them!) then I'll give them a $500 gift certificate to Best Buy for a TV, computer - whatever.

I have the knowledge and the tools now to wage battle. And then I read a post like yours and wonder how some people even find their way to their job everyday...

Always great posts Andy. Some are more enlightening than I expect. Interesting world isn't it?

What is wrong with asking "how can i sell"?

Obviously that will lead us normies to get information from people like you.

Yes, you are right. I have never heard the term normies either. LOL - I'll be using that one.

I have some quirks. I wish I didn't, but they are rooted in me like ticks in an Alabama hound dog that's been coon hunting for a week. I'm not a normie. LOL.

One of those quirks is that I have above average expectations from people. I'm a perfectionist. I set high standards for myself - I am my own worst critic. I don't have particulary high expectations for other people, but I do expect them to function reasonably well at what they do. If they are selling in some way, I expect them to have an above average grasp of how to do it - and to continue to improve over time. If they have a diner, I expect them to be able to make a hamburger better than me - that's what they do! On and on.

But - every day I go out I see people that can't even drive properly. How do they function at all? They drive on the level of a fourth grader. I would not fault a fourth grader for not driving good - but someone over 30? What have they been doing the past three decades that they've been on this planet? It's obvious they don't care one iota about learning how to drive properly - or they don't care about the rest of the world that they are holding up because they can't use their brain properly. It's very frustrating. Or I go to the fast food drive through to get a quick meal to eat while I'm driving. I say, I'll have a number two with a coke - small size please. Wait for it... They ask me again - was that a number two? Yes. What did you want to drink? Will that be large, medium or small? ARRRRGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

The last time this happened - and it happens often - I screamed at them! Then I drove up to the pick up window and screamed at them some more!!!! When they DO understand an order, about 20% of the time it's wrong. How HARD is it to work at some place like this? MUCH harder than driving a car and staying between the lines, I would imagine...

So when someone has a business selling a product or service, I expect SOME level of expertise. Not genius. Just more than fourth grade level.

I don't mean to be insulting, and I certainly don't want to make anyone feel bad. But I think some people deserve it. They truly do. I have my own theory on why old people are grumpy. We are born with a tolerance to deal with stupidity. After so many DECADES of putting up with stupidity, I think humans reach a point of just not caring anymore. That's when they SCREAM at fast food workers in the intercom. And then take pleasure at SCREAMING at them again at the drive up window. It doesn't change anything - but I've had too much stupidity in my life to deal with.

THAT'S where I'm coming from...

Note to myself: I have to work on my tolerance and patience! A lot! Sorry! It is my fault for being this way. I will work on being more tuned in and more sensitive. Your post was excellent at pointing that out!

But, but but... By the way, I was NEVER as stupid as some of the people I meet. NEVER. Not even in the fourth grade! I know some first graders that impress me even. First graders are quite smart, actually. However, the old saying still stands: "You can't fix stupid."

Rant OFF!

People often are mediocre or average in different fields. This is natural and instead of hating them for that you should be more sympathetic.Even better you could imagine how they are great at other things.I am . great theorist but i f***k up my experiments.

That said you have an almost psychopathic level of narcissism. You shouted at someone who misheard your order... come on dude...

Narcissism is good to achieve greatness but it also leads to immoral practises.
I always try to be calmer than i am, that way i live longer and be happier.

Thanks for the insight. I looked up psychopath, as I never knew exactly what it meant. It's quite interesting. I have several of the traits, I think. Lack of fear - and maybe some degree of overconfidence. Funny - if I was discussing this with you in person, I'd say those are some of my strengths! Other traits are pretty depressing. I'm definitely not uncaring or irresponsible. I am the exact opposite in those regards. I have many people I know that have a lot to say about how caring, helpful (doing something is SO much better than just "caring" about it) and responsible I am. I know what it's like to be helped. I have learned that lesson well. And I pay it forward every chance I get.

HOWEVER, your comments are duly noted - AND appreciated! I do need to "temper" my approach to things. Be "calmer" - more often - as you try to be.

(Even though it's 3:45 am and what am I doing? Not surfing the internet for hours. I'm taking a small break from working! Another 16 hour day...)

I will do better - I promise!

16 hours? i best check your progress thread! ;)

As for the traits you are mentioning, alot of people need more of them.I too focus on trying to be less fearful and conscious. To be ruthless in your goals is a great trait, however as with everything it needs to tampered down.

Ruthless? I'll gladly take that as a compliment!

Just a heads up - it's now the next day - 3:25 am. Here I am again, working. This is like a nightmare that won't end!

But then everything changed!

I have stumbled upon four deals that I can make serious money on. Not MJ money - but good for me. Maybe $80K or more in a few weeks.

How did I find these? Hell - I just keep running until I find something, basically. I try things over and over. They usually don't work out, but amazingly they do get me closer to something that is much better. I finally broke through that barrier. It just takes being ruthless, and a little too stupid to not know when to quit! I'm a little too much of both - LOL.

At any rate - tomorrow is going to be a big day. I'll see how things go. By the way - the info that I discovered was sitting there all along. Anyone could have discovered it. But only the unrelenting ones that just won't stop stumble upon things like this. I could have been so much more... um... normal? But then I would have given up a long time ago. This is so funny. I think it was Edison that said achievement is 99% perspiration and 1% inspiration. I know the feeling! Time for bed - I wish I was paid for the hours I work... (another 16 hour day!)

Thanks again for your post! Truly uplifting. I have no peers to discuss things with. I'm either looked up to, or down upon - but hardly ever equal. It's nice to be here and get great insight to so many things!

Keep going buddy. I have empathy with the stupidity. I also control my feelings to laughing at them mostly, not always, I swear at the mofos when I have to.
Great to know you have been making big headway recently and finding great opportunities.
