I've been trying to get into the habit of evaluating business ideas instead of just thinking "that's cool" and moving on, so here's another one I'd like some feedback on.
The idea is a self-leveling cup holder.
Basically, the cup holder would be mounted inside some kind of gimbal mechanism that allows it to stay upright while the vehicle or machine around it moves. Similar to how a ship's compass stays level.
My original thought was roller coasters, but after thinking about it for more than five seconds, I realized that most parks don't allow drinks on rides anyway.

- Off-road vehicles
- Golf carts
- Wheelchairs/mobility scooters
- Utility vehicles
My concerns are:
- Is this actually a painful enough problem for people to spend money on?
- Does something like this already exist and I just haven't found it?
- Is there a specific market that would be better than the others?
- If you were testing demand for something like this, how would you go about it?
