Niche Research. Need Help!

Hello everybody! My name is Jackson Steltmann. I am looking to start my own consulting business and I want to do some market research into two different "industries." I want to help solve problems that are more dear to myself than just doing it for whatever other reason. I have always been very interested in real estate investing of all kinds and entrepreneurship. So I want to hear from you all on the daily problems you are having or desires you wish to have. In real estate investing I would like to hear some of the business problems as well as mindset problems. What you guys want solved. In entrepreneurship I want to hear more about the mindset problems and some business problems. An entrepreneur has always fascinated me and I relate to the mind set. I would be so grateful for anybody who reaches out and I will always welcome a quick 15~ minute phone call.

I have been in the auto industry for many years doing sales and finance but only did this to pay for schooling. Most of my background is in sales and problem solving. I have been a part of certain real estate deals but from the outside (looking at the financials and the "creative financing" for others). I have never started my own company so I cannot say that I have any entrepreneurial experience. I have been working with a consulting firm just starting out and they are generalists and I did not appreciate their mindsets. This is why I am doing my research into selecting a niche. I do not know if you are looking for me to justify my ask or wish to know what I have done. If this did not answer your question please let me know and I will try to dwell further into it.

I think what he is asking is how can you solve problems for people when you don't have any experience in the industry?

If I gave you an entrepreneurial problem, how could you even know where to begin to solve it?

I understand that question and also understand the concern. To figure out an entire industry is no small task. But to solve a single problem in that industry can be attained much easier. In my ideas of consulting would not be to tell someone how to run their own business, but to help them achieve something within their business. I feel as if there are 3 main reasons someone hires a consultant. 1- inability to get there on their own. 2- Want to get there faster. 3- Want a proven system, map, or advice from somebody who has done it. This would be my first company I have started but everyone starts somewhere. I have also had a more business focused mind and pick up on things very well. I say I have no entrepreneurial experience since I have never started a company. But I do have the mindset. And to begin solving a problem it all starts with a GAP analysis. Where are they now, where would they like to be, and what needs to happen along the way to make that happen. This is my thought.
