Hi Everyone. My name is Trissy! I read Unscripted a few months ago and that book magnified what I felt ever since I was 18. I had my first job at 18 and it was one of the worst experiences I have ever had in my life. I moved here to NYC from the Caribbean. So I was pretty new to American culture when I got here. The work life here was a big shock to me and I did not want to be just like everyone else. I just didn't see my life going in that direction. I started my first business when i was 19. It was an Amazon FBA seller business. It failed but I learned a lot. After that I did service businesses that also failed but I still learned a lot. Now after reading Unscripted , I am more focused on creating a productocracy. I started a Caribbean snacks business before reading Unscripted , so right now I am in the testing phase to see if I can actually make it into a productocracy by using the Action, Assess and Adjust technique! Nice to meet everyone and I hope to learn even more from everyone here.

well snacks are not a high price purchase unless you get alot of magnitude you might wanna consider something that'll be a much needed item that would provide even more value

Hi, welcome to the forum.

What caused you to fail with Amazon FBA? What would you do differently?

Thanks!
I completely messed up with choosing the right products. I chose products that I thought would sell but when I finally listed them on Amazon, I had to keep lowering the prices to get a sale. This just left me with so much inventory that I was hardly breaking even.
I also underestimated FBA fees. They kept increasing, and this just lowered any profit I would have made.

What I would do differently? I would choose products that aren't saturated on Amazon, so that I can have a better chance. I also would differentiate the products a bit, so that the value of my products are different that everyone else. In the end I ended up having to lower my prices because competition kept lowering theirs. It was like a price war to the bottom. No one wins in the end.
In terms of FBA fees, I am not sure how I would be able to do anything differently, other than raise my prices. That's pretty much the only option I would have to gain some profit.
