Since when do we make comments/statements within a thread and then decide that the topic is closed for further reply/discussion? MJ, I suppose I could understand if you wanted to make a PSA and were not intending to start a discussion - but, then again, I thought this place thrived on feedback/suggestions?
Is that not the basis of these (and other) forums? Discussion?
I, for one, happen to agree that learning as much as possible about the past (particularly the actions which led us to where we are today, regarding bailout) can absolutely advance your ability to position yourself properly for the future. Without complete understanding of what is possible, you are working in a silo and become vulnerable to outside risks, which you may not even understand.
I also agree that the blaming (when used for ranting/whining as opposed to further understanding) is a complete waste of time.
I look forward to coming to this site – lately, to read the thoughts/opinions on the current market and related causes. Many people, in my world, have no interest in understanding the situation any further than ‘whah….poor me’. In contrast, here, I feel like most people are looking to really dissect the issue and understand it. I have actually told several people, in recent weeks, about the Fastlane – specifically because they showed real interest in understanding how this (bailout situation) happened and wanted to have an intelligent discussion about it.
I don’t pretend to understand it all…..but I do feel like I am learning more everyday and getting closer to a much better understanding. I have ZERO doubt that this knowledge will help me to be a more astute investor in days/years to come.
I am certainly not looking to argue. Just stating my point of view……and I am pretty sure that is what this place is all about??
