Hi folks! I've read (well, listened to!) TMF twice. It's a long listen, but I love @MJ DeMarco 's style of writing / reading - gets me pumped!

I lived in the US for 12 years, before being 'removed' back to the UK in 2011 after my chequered past finally caught up with me. I miss the US with a passion, and fully intend to return. The legal costs of doing so are extremely high, and this led me into my own mission to "make money" so I could afford the quality legal representation I will need. It's important to me because my wife and daughter were born in the US; they currently live in the UK with me, but are homesick as all heck.

I've built a pretty decent income over the past 6 years and have managed to rebuild my life such that we live in a nice area, my kids go to a private school, we drive a nice car, and we travel lots. But my long-term aspirations are to build a £25mm consulting firm over the next 5 years, and also to build a software outsourcing company based in Panama to service US companies with affordable offshore outsourcing.

This past 6 months have been a real whirlwind for me, and I've gone through (well, still going through!) a total transformation! I've lost weight (on purpose!), and crushed many goals. One of which was to listen to an audiobook a week while walking; it was only a matter of time before TMF was downloaded to my iPod! ;)

I'm also in the process of writing a book, to be published by end of Q2 2017, and am off to Vietnam next week (end of April 2017) to record some videos and interview software outsourcing companies out there. It's all part of my strategy to establish myself as an authority in my field of business, something necessary if I am ever going to hit my revenue goals.

While the TMF mindset was not entirely new to me when I read (listened to!) it, it definitely expanded my thinking. I finally joined the forum once it occurred to me that I might actually make some solid connections here on this forum, some who I could help, and others who might be able to help me.

OK, that's about it! Looking forward to getting to know many of you better of the coming months and years.

Cheers!

Thank you MJ! And thank you for writing TMF .

I'm actually about to set off for my ritual evening walk through the English countryside, and so you'll be accompanying me (well, your voice will, at any rate) as I commence my third 'read' of the book! ;)

Great intro, welcome to the forum Tony. On a related note, where are you heading to in Vietnam? I'm in Ho Chi Minh City in the last week of April to May. If you're around, we can catch up. Good luck with the videos and interviewing.

Thank you!

I will be in Ho Chi Minh City from Friday 28th till Sunday 30th. I have a somewhat hectic schedule - land early on the Friday, and have Cu Chi tunnel tour and machine gun experience booked, followed by a meetup I am hosting with outsourcing company exec's. And Saturday is a walking tour plus a spa booking! Ha! Saturday night I think we're partying at Brown Eyes, just in case that's your thing! ;)

I fly to Da Nang to a week-long retreat on the Sunday noon-ish, but will return to HCMC on Sunday 7th May for 1 night, if you'd still be there then?

Is there anyone else who will be in Ho Chi Minh City who is up for a spur-of-the-moment, last-minute meetup on either Friday 28th April or Sunday 7th May?!

Great intro, detailed yet concise, wish I'd taken a more measured approach.

There are loads of different people who join this forum, however I've noticed a lot of whom land into two categories, the people who join the forum keen to learn and don't have a lot of value to give upfront. Then there's those who seem to have an abundance of life experience and are set to provide so much value in a variety of ways.

I'd wager you definitely fall into the latter category, I will definitely be following you during your time at the forum.

Thank you! I sure do plan to "give back" and "pay it forward", so to speak! ;) My journey so far has been an interesting one, at least I think so!

Most of my experiences have been of failure, let down, disappointment, self-sabotage, being "less than", and wanting for more. There have only been a handful of truly "great" moments in my life, but the handful is all it takes... I'm just looking for a couple more of those "great" moments to get me where I truly want to be, and I know that (considering my history, the experiences of others, Pareto's Law, etc) that I have a lot more "failures" ahead of me!

But I've chosen to accept that the road I choose to travel will be a difficult one, and am choosing to enjoy the journey anyway, rather than being wrapped up in the prize and missing all the valuable lessons, or allowing fear to hold me back from taking my next bold step.

After all, it's the journey that makes it all worthwhile, because you can't savor the flavor of success if you ain't gorged on a banquet of failure.

So, maybe the most valuable thing I could share right now would be to read the threads linked to in @Andy Black's signature - I am still working through them, but they contain some of the most refined "mindset" info I've ever read, and I'm getting immense value from them. There are literally whole books and courses out there that Andy captures in one profound post or video (I should know, I've spent thousands on the bloody things!) ;)

It's early days, but I can already tell how valuable this community is, and will continue to be, to me - so much so, I'm signing up for the INSIDERS level today!

Cheers!

@creativt69 Thanks, Tony! Friday 28th April seems good to me. Not sure what Brown Eyes are though ;-) I'll PM you with a follow up and my contact info. Looking forward to meeting you in Vietnam very soon.

Oh, any particular reason for choosing Vietnam as outsourcing destination?

LOL! Apparently, it's a club! But all to be confirmed in the next couple days...

Oh, any particular reason for choosing Vietnam as outsourcing destination?
I'm attending an outsourcing retreat in Hoi An run by Charmaine Thring (who I'm looking to do some JV stuff with) - details in my sig ;)

Will look for your PM and look forward to meeting up!

Cheers!
